Will definately feel different...I never actually took my rigid on any trails...I didn't stat trail riding till this yearr and I had already bought a different bike...so will turn that into a SS commuter? (seems to be a growing trend)

I'm sure it's steel ... or something equivalently heavy, but it's all I've known for 10 years so it does the job. It'll just make my new rig that much better.

Flick it with your fingernail...if it clicks it's aluminum, if it makes a faint 'ting' sound, it's steel.

It's most likely steel though. Nice bike :)

ya it's steel ... the sound it makes when I flick it isn't the same as when I flick bikes at the store. =)

I really miss my old steel rigid (1990 Nishiki Ariel). It survived fine on the trails. Just goes to prove that you don't always need suspension for singletracks. I gave it to my brother when I bought my dual-suspension bike several years ago. He left it out on his front porch where it got stolen. Even though it was my fault for just giving it to him, I'm still bitter he didn't take better care of it considering all the love and care I gave that bike over the years. On another note, the mechanic at my FBS races XC with his rigid singlespeed steel Jamis. He usually finishes respectably.

Why bother with a magnet when a fingernail works fine? Why are you rolling your eyes?
