Southern California - How about a BCI ride on Sunday?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Any of you who had planned a ride in OC this Sunday should take a look at the ride planned by the Bicycle Club of Irvine (BCI). Nice 44 miles ride include Santiago Canyon. 2200' climb total. Starts at 9AM at Deerfield Park on Irvine Center Drive. For more details, see http://www.bikeirvine.org/rides.shtml

If any of you have not tried an organized club - BCI is great (yes I know my name is BCIpam - so it is an endorsement but I wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it). Sunday is their formal riding day so rides are longer, faster and harder. If alittle unsure about joining a Club ride try Saturday. It's their "social" day - great for newcomers but not to say people don't take their riding seriously. The Club has alot to offer - something for the newie, newbie rider up to CATs. Some of the strongest, fastest riders in OC ride with BCI, especially on Sundays.
Also note - the first Saturday of each month BCI offers a "newbie" ride. It's for the new riders, someone just getting out on the bike. The ride is "no drop" and I mean a real no drop. BCI members volunteer to lead and sweep these rides o no one gets left behind! And a great way to meet others also just starting out.
I can testify that what BCIpam says is accurate. I have ridden in 7 or 8 BCI rides since last June and I really enjoyed. The Sunday rides are indeed longer and at a faster pace for some, but there are always slower subgroups so that there should be no worries from slower riders.
