i think next time i do this ride i want to try and go back up to the top on stunt road?? is that the other road that meets at the top?
Stunts a great climb. I've got directions for a ride that I was on last year with some buddies. It starts in Mulhullond Circle and then goes out, up Stunt, Down Las Virgenes and back (roughly 45/50 miles). If you'd like a copy of it, I can provide it.

the roads it connects with is schurenen to your right and saddle peak on your left as your coming up. There r a couple of ways to Coast highway from there. Stunt road is popular with the squids on the weekend so I prefer it during the week. If you ride dirt, Mulholland turns to a dirt road just west of Canoga blvd, it's several miles of state park so theres no motorized traffic and more fabulous views. It's turns back to pavement a couple of miles before Sepulveda. Theres another shorter dirt road with some single tracks at the peak of Old Topanga road.

I'm assuming squid means motorcycle, because they are crawling all over those mountains on Saturdays and Sundays (late Thursday nights too, but that's like midnight). Anybody know if there used to be a race that went up Piuma? Every time I go around that horseshoe curve I see the words

painted on the road. Great area to ride, though. I plan on doing that again when I get back into shape.

Yes, come join us for the Baldy ride and the Pie ride! Haven't done the Baldy ride myself, but I can vouch for the quality of the Pie ride route. Gorgeous riding, and plentiful climbing.

motorcyclist, ususally young, ususally wearing t-shirt, shorts and sandals riding a sportbike past their abilities.
They outnumber the skilled riders 100-1 on the weekend.

hello all i took cassave's advice and went to the santa monicas on sunday. this is the exact ride i was looking for. i found my way to mulholland then took the old mulholland road to fernwood and went up some road. i think it was saddle peak to the top. the view was amazing up there with sightings of the valley on one side and the ocean on the other. then i went down the ocean side and back up and down piuma. found my way back to mulholland and returned back in the valley on valley circle. it was really bizarre seeing all that undeveloped land in the valley.. so no boys you have not chased me away just yet so i guess someone lost some money... i think next time i do this ride i want to try and go back up to the top on stunt road?? is that the other road that meets at the top? Stunt is the one that goes to Mulholland from the top of that ridge, Piuma goes from there down to Las Virgines, (Malibu Cyn), and the other way to the East is Fernwood Pacific, which ends at Topanga Canyon, just south of Old Topanga Canyon.
Another thing you could do is take Mulholland all the way to the north end at PCH. From there you could return the same way or take one of several other routes back.
Do come to a BF ride, they are always fun, and the SFVBC rides I post about here always have women, this past Saturday we had 7 women, including merider, among the 20 or so riders.

That's a great route wheelgurl, I'm still rebuilding my stamina to make all those climbs after having not been on my bike for several years. It is my neighborhood though, so I'm starting to get lots of practice.
