Well I just gave in and placed the order for a new fork. I have become spoiled by the Fox F100x on my Truth. I was hoping I would be happy with the SID race on my Nitrous but I just miss the stiffness of the Fox too much. I mainly notice it when I am going into sharp turns in the middle of a dip when I am really pushing it. I just don't feel comfortable with it the way it flexes.

Whats bad is that I used a SID for over a year on my 2001 Gary Fisher Sugar 1 and never had a problem. I also used this particular fork for a little over 200 miles when it was on my Enlightenment and never had a problem. It wasn't until after I rode the Fox and it's 32 mm stanchions and it's automatic lockout that I became spoiled.

Anyway, here is a picture of what it will look like. Only difference is the one pictured is 100 mm, mine will be 80 mm. The only downside to this is that I will be gaining a little weight on the bike. It will be worth it though.

mmm that'll be sweet. any particular reason you went with 80mm instead of 100? don't need the extra travel/don't want the extra weight? you'd better show us the goods once it's installed ;)

Yeah, my bike was designed for an 80mm fork.

Nice fork. Did Fox change the intertia valve in the 2007 at all? I heard the 2006's had a lot of problems.

On a side note, Fox fixed up my friend's 100X that came on an Epic that she bought off of Ebay. Took 10 weeks, but it's cool that they fixed it when they didn't have to.

ah makes sense. i noticed you had a SID on your enlightenment...what'd you think of it in the long term? (i just got an irresistable deal on an 05 team and am curious)

That is the same SID that I'm replacing with the Fox. I'm replacing because I think it flexes a bit too much for my taste.

I have a 2006 F100x and haven't had any problems with it. That is just mine though, I've heard of a few having to be rebuilt a bit early.

As for the 2007's they were supposed to have improved them and made them feel a little more locked out. I'm not sure of the details. I'm looking forward to trying it out though. What sucks is I'll probably only get to ride it two or three times this year before I put that bike up for the season. :(

That's great. You just made your Turner my dream bike. :D

Funny, I also ordered a new fork today :). Fox F series would be my first choice, but unfortuately they don't ship them outside the US. I tried many online stores, no chance. So I went for the R7. Not the best fork out there, but at least I'm hoping it to be stiffer than my skareb. It was also half price of the F100X, so I used the extra cash to order a few new parts ;).

Don't forget to post one of your detailed reviews on the fork. I'll probably get it next year with a new frame ;).

Yeah it made it to the Nitrous. So far I have had three rides on it. I plan on racing it on Sunday, after that I will be putting the SID up for sale on ebay. Probably going to go ahead and sell the White Bros XC.8 fork I have as well. Need to recoup a little bit of this money. Plus I need to order an Extralite seatpost (http://www.sales.light-bikes.com/extralite/images/PostUL2.jpg), that will only set me back about $170. :D

Here is the Nitrous with the SID on it.

Just checked my PayPal account. Looks like Fox ran my card yesterday. If things go well I'll be getting the new fork next Monday. Works out pretty well since I'll be out of town Thursday through Sunday selling Salsa. :)

I've not rode the X Fox, But I do have an 80 and a 100mm and love them both. And the weight difference shouldn't be much more than a couple hundred grams over the SID should it?

nice bike man, hmm, I love Fox, although I never actually owned one. I rode my friends Fox *something* Trail Tuned and I love it. Anyway if im not mistake Fox improved its Inertia Valve for its 07 model. Hmm, well im lookin towards a 100mm fork, just not sure to take the X series or the RLC series. Hmm, anyway nice bike and its been 6 weeks and my Giant Anthem 2 hasnt arrive yet!!, grr
