Commuting - new HID light

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Anyone have experience with this light?

MEC in Toronto is selling it for probably cheaper than any other HID out there in CDN right now. And it does use the medical-grade bulbs. But I'm always a bit weary of the first production year of anything. Other stuff I've bought from Planet bike has ranged from excellent to mostly alright. I'd like to hear as well from anyone who's taken the plunge and bought this, since I'm a bit chicken myself.

This looks like a great lighting solution for me. I think I'll buy it.

I think it looks pretty cool, though it's kind of a big thing to bolt onto handlebars.
$350 is a bit more than I'd like to pay for a headlight, since there are other HID alternatives in the $200-$250 range that are acceptable to me, though it's not ridiculous and reducing the size is attractive. If I didn't already have an HID it would definitely be in the running.

What mechBgon said, batteryspace. I've run one for a year now, the only problem I had was that I put on too high a voltage battery (14.4v) at first and fried the first one in a week. Trailtech fixed it free, and it's been working fine (at 12v) since.
Also, I noticed that the Topeak Moonshine is going for about $280 now. I haven't seen one in person, but in the pictures it looks exactly like the Trailtech stuck on a Topeak handlebar mount and a LiIon battery attached. In fact the ad copy says it uses a solarc lamp, which is what Trailtech uses.
I already had a DIY halogen system, so I just bought the bare HID from batteryspace for $120.
That better be one helluva tight clamp to keep the thing from rotating out of position...

This one. (http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=2377)
I talk about putting together a light that ended up like this one in this thread (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=226322). Batteryspace now sells it all put together, so the problem of connecting everything has been solved. I am very happy with the light. It lasts 7+ hours (with the waterbottle Li-Ion battery) and is as bright as some car headlights.
