Who's going? See http://www.tt24tt.com/ What event are you riding? What are your goals?
The plan this year was for this to be my "big" event. I'm planning on the 500-mile route and am flirting with doing the 36-hour start so I only have to ride through one night. Hopefully I'll have a friend from work joining me, riding the 24-hour event. We'll be driving down and setting up base camp on Thursday.... Any other nutters out there?

I am going, but instead of my usual, I am riding this for a charity in the 24 hour:

Weighing in at 55 pounds, I am not looking forward to that first hill. On the flats it rolls nicely at 15-20 mph and so far I have topped out at 33.7 mph, but I haven't done a major downhill yet...
Yes, definitely going. I'm doing the 24-hour event. If I break 260 miles, I will be one tired, hurting, happy cyclist. Anything beyond that would be gravy.

This is definitely the coolest thing I've seen in a while. You are the man! What a great, fun idea! I'll be cheering you on big-time! I can't wait to see all that glorious mass of steel and fat wheels come rocketing past me on the downhill!

I think the only way that will happen is if I am near you when you lap me!
BTW, it now has a genuine imitation snakeskin barcalounger seat too...

There's going to be a few fast Bacchetta guys there. Keep an eye on them. I'd expect 400+ miles out of them for the 24. (now I've just jinxed them). They'll be tired, but not hurting.
I'm hearing 750ft climbing per lap, here's routeslip topo of the ride.

I will be there. This will be my first attempt at this type of event. I am doing the 24hr TT and my goal is 300 miles. Although I have never done over 125 at one time I don't think it will be too difficult. I''ve dond a couple of night centuries the last couple of weeks to work out lighting and food issues. I am using a couple of Cateye headlights (HL-EL500 and the newer HL-EL 530) which seem fine. I've got the Cateye taillight (TL-LD1000) which will need to be set on solid and no flashing.
The food issues are a little tougher. My plan was to drink an Ensure + every other lap to go along with my sportdrink but the ensure fills me up to much. I might try the regular ensure next and see if that helps. I plan on mixing solid food somewher in there too but have not worked that out either. Any advice on the food issues? What are your plans?
Next year I want one of those cool trophies.

I will have all of my usual supplies- food, hydration, first aid, etc. so if I can be of any help don't hesitate to ask; that goes for everyone. I am doing this one just for fun, so if I can help any of you to hit your goal I will gladly do so.
Make sure you include some solids in your nutrition too, such as clif bars and some simple carbs. I primarily use Gu, Clif bars, some sport beans and then some regular food. Dan's group handles this event very well and there will be some things at the pavilion also. I don't know what sport drink you are using but prepare to water it down some after awhile. Sometimes it gets to be too much for your stomach and diluting it can help.
For everyone- make sure to take cold weather gear!!!!! Last year I didn't and it got to 34 at night. I lost a few hours because I wasn't prepared and it was too cold to ride with the clothes I had. Hopefully this year will be warmer at night.
500 miles around a 20 mile loop. Talk about boring.:)

According to TopoUSA, it 1087 ft climbing per lap.
750 makes it sound easier. :) Routeslip uses googlemaps, and I think Dan said it was close to 800. It'll be interesting to see the results. I know that Jim Kern is a climber even on a recumbent, it was amazing how fast he'd go up hills during RAAM.

My wife's cousin is coming down from Wisconsin for the 24hr TT and is in need of a ride from the Dallas area to Cleburne. He gets to Dallas late Thursday and could take a ride then or on Friday. I won't make it to Cleburne from Houston until shortly before the ride or I would pick him up. Any fellow TTT riders willing to help out and give him a ride?

I am sad to announce that I must withdraw from the event this year. I had a mishap at work and slipped a disk between my shoulderblades. My doctor has informed me that I will probably not be able to ride at all until at least mid November. Since I can hardly walk and can't lift my arms or head, I suppose he is right, although I hate to admit it.
I wish everyone who is competing the best of luck! If you haven't done this event before you will love it. The course is great, the volunteers are awesome, and the townspeople of Cleburne are very friendly and supportive.
Well, back to bed and the Vicodin for me...:( :(
Sorry about your mishap and I hope you recover quickly. I was looking forward to seeing you on the course. It would add some interest to what is sure to get rather tedious.
I did five loops on the course last weekend and got pretty tired of seeing the same turns, same hills, and same dogs.

Very sorry to hear about the hit that the chopper bike category is taking. Wishing you a speedy <pun intended> recovery!
Registration went in the mail this past weekend. Opted for the 36-hour start. Fingers crossed for some good weather....

Be sure to check out the TTT forum. So far it has seen little use but hopefully it will pick up soon.

Rolling out of town this afternoon, arriving in Cleburne mid-day Thursday, camping on-site for the event. Look for the red Stratus with Ohio plates and come say "hi." The weather looks to be perfect (dare I even say that?) Good luck to everyone racing! Paul
Looks like it's underway. Got an update last night, Jim Kern and John Schlitter were around 10 minutes up on the field after 3 laps. Awaiting results later this evening.
Congratulations to everyone who participated in the Texas Time Trials. It was a great race with near perfect weather.

More to follow in a separate ride report soon, but the short of it was that it was an awesome event with great people and some big Texas winds, especially on Saturday. Ended up 6th out of the 10 men who finished the 500 officially (15 of the 25 solo men in the 500 DNF'd!). Great ride. Many lessons learned, as always. Already looking forward to next year....

Congrats on the 500! Heard the winds were pretty harsh.
Preliminary results are here:

Looks like John Schlitter and Jim Kern did fairly well, 400.2 miles in 23:02 and 23:54. With 860 feet per lap climbing, that's not bad for a bike that "can't climb". :)

Congratulations on your 500 miles. That's a heck of an achievement. I agree that the winds got pretty strong on Saturday. I did two of my last three laps in the 24 hour while the wind was clocking around. Riding straight into that headwind on the back half of the course after 260 miles was pretty rough on me. I got a lot of respect for you guys who did it after 460 miles!
