Well it's Fri and you know what that means... I know that I've got a problem and it has got to stop.... I swear to the Gods that I'll stop all this madness when I find a bike w/ those 3 words

As always, I set out on my once-per-week Fri run in the hope of finding a bike with the following 3 words: "Schwinn, Chicago, Paramount" and of course as always, I didn't see a bike like that:rolleyes:

However, I did find a fun 1976 American Flyer, mocha-brown paint & decals in great shape, 1/2 chromed front fork, nice head badge, Suntour 7GT deraileurs, etc.

Lugged frame states: "KCL Special Light Seamless Tubing"

Did Schwinn have any connection to these or was that long before the 70's??

Dont think so. Mine appears to be Nishiki based. Sold through Sears Or Wards dept store. Does have the schwinn sized stem though. 21.5? Headset also looks very schwinn. Nervex styled lugs.

I'd say the quality is right around Le tour range. Maybe a little bit better.

The american flyer schwinns might have been destined to the same dept store as your road bike much in the same way that some schwinns are Firestones. These were from the 50s.

I have a 1977 Soma Sport with this same sticker on it. The frame was manufactured by Kuwahara.
