Just curious what you guys/gals do to organize your music. The way I currently have it organized, it's hard to make a good playlist without it taking FOREVER.
Gimme some tips! :)

I just go by album. For specific lists like workouts, I'll just pick songs as I think of them. I like playlisting on the fly.

I need a bigger iPod.
I usually just load most of my library on the iPod, but sometimes I'm not in the mood for a lot of the music that comes up and I get tired of having to skip tracks all the time.

Have you tried setting up various criteria in the smart playlist section?

Yes, which is a nice function. I usually like to select by genre, but iTunes doesn't do a very good job of selecting the correct genre.

Just checked my folder. I have 268 albums. More than I thought!
I find specific songs that I like and group them by whatever idea comes into my head, band, theme or style.
I also don't think about how many albums I have, I think about the amount of time that I can listen to them without repeating. currently 51.6 days.
**edit** all legal (just for you Mandy :) )

Most of my guy friends have no problem with downloading music off of the internet. I just sulk :p everytime my friend says that they have 200+ GB of music (all downloaded)! I have not been the one to steal stuff music wise that does not belong to me... maybe because I am a musician at heart!

I just let iTunes do it by artist/album. I'm a product of the album era-- generally I like to listen to whole albums all the way through. My sister recommended that I get the biggest iPod I could, and was right -- I got the 60G photo version and it's great-- I can hold all my music (from my own CDs) plus video from the helmet cam and room to spare.
It's interesting when I do random though, because I get snippets of french lessons and snippets of a live show CD I got (produced by the artists for distribution at the end of the show) where it's split into 1 minute tracks, so I just get little one minute snippets interspersed.

I can see why you guys are scared of riding on the road...I would be too if I was listening to music and organizing my play list while riding on the road.
