Since most of my friends (and my wife, and all her friends) are younger than me, I've come to enjoy playing the old fart.

Does she remember this one:

One banana, two banana, three banana, four
Four bananas make a bunch and so do many more.
Over hill and highway the banana buggies go
Coming on to bring you the Banana Splits (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbU5CzPi0zM) show

I've had this song stuck in my head all morning...

Funny you mention that... as just last week I was Tivo'ing the Banana Splits episodes they run on the Boom network. I was never a fan of most of the cartoons/live action serials they featured, but I got a kick out of the Splits themselves. Most of the Hanna-Barbera stuff was too cornball, but the Flintstones make up for all the dreck they churned out.

I wish Boom would air H.R. Pufnstuf and Land of the Lost.

Who's your friend when things get rough?

I've always been convinced that Witchy Poo was misunderstood.

Seriously... there's something weird about a young boy who walks around with a talking flute in his hand.

Land of the Lost taught me everything I needed to know as an adult. Mainly to run from giant dinosaurs when they are trying to eat you. Long live Enoch.

Will Ferrell is attached to a Land of the Lost film. But it's one of those on-again, off-again projects. Currently stuck "in development".

Being an oldster, my general philosophy is that music relevant to me died somewhere after Axel and Slash came and saved metal and then turned into a bunch of infighting crack-heads. Typically, I'm a classic and prog-rock guy where bands like Rush and Yes can do no wrong. However there are the odd surprises that come down the pike. Two songs I've been listening to are 'Born Too Slow' by Crystal Method and the remake of Iggy Pop's 'Punkrocker' by Teddybears (Swedish band) with Aimee Echo on vocals. They appeal to my being a sucker for really catchy riffs and scratchy throat vocals.

JP is metal, G&R were only good for a minute while JP is 30 years old and still putting out great albums (with the exception of those few years where Rob was not singing)

oh, and I did not have to look far for a JP song in the playlist... Steeler from British Steel came on after a few songs!

That is too funny!!! I used to hate my family (not as much anymore since I live far away from them) and football jocks did pick on me in school (until they found out that I am not a nice guy to mess with)... and I graduated from Heritage High which is only 4 miles from Columbine (although a few years before that incident) and used to wear trench coats all the time.

Today is going to be filled with older bands just because of this post... Skinny Puppy, KMFDM, Ministry, NIN, and the calming sounds of Mussolini Headkick... :D

Lady Stardust - David Bowie:

People stared at the makeup on his face
Laughed at his long black hair, his animal grace
The boy in the bright blue jeans
Jumped up on the stage
And lady stardust sang his songs
Of darkness and disgrace

Femme fatales emerged from shadows
To watch this creature fair
Boys stood upon their chairs
To make their point of view
I smiled sadly for a love I could not obey
Lady stardust sang his songs
Of darkness and dismay
