View Full Version : New Street bike under $400 (also do a lil flatland)
My mirra 540 got stolen today, but my check is coming in soon (hopefully) so doin some research. I really need front brakes for endos and scuffing (these dont have them but does dans comp come with them?
im lookin at:
Cleveland 06 - $300 - 20.5 - 32 lbs
6Pack - $300 - 20.5 - 32 lbs
E. Shovelhead - $379 - 20.5 - ?lbs - Int HS, Sealed BB
Hoffman Rhythm IL1 - $365 - 21 - 31lbs - Int HS, Sealed BB
Stolen Wrap -$319 - 20.75 - 29.5 - Int HS
I am 6', 170lbs,
favorite tricks: skateparks, 180s, 360's, smiths/feebles, scuffing on front wheel (firehydrant or something), flatland tailwhips.

it looks like u do more street and park then flatland so i recomend buying 6 pack great all round bike .. sorry about ur bike
Thanks Fuzzy - So Integrated headset and Sealed BB's isnt that big of a deal?
I ride about once or twice a week about 30 minutes during those days,
I go to the skatepark about a 6 to 8 times a year...
IH and SBB's make it easier to repair right? But is it worth the extra $60?
Also, the clevelend is on sale (however in a ugly brown color).
In addition to the extra brake, i realized i also need extra pegs

if u ride only 30 minutes a day and do flatland for a fraction of that time i recomend buying dk six pack... IH and SBB's make it easier to repair. Cleveland is good dk is better..

The Cleveland is made by DK.
Now, do some research and stop talking out of your ass.

Eastern Shovelhead or hoffman rhythm, dispite what everyone else will tell you about how eastern is not that great, those are the better two bikes.

Then clarify next time.
My vote goes for the Stolen or rythem though.
okay, I just ruled out DK 6 pack - it doesnt have a gyro.
Strenths:
The 06 shovelhead is 29lbs and silver and apparently only $349
the Rhythm is the longest 21" (i am 6 feet tall)
==> From the pictures, there seems no front brake mounts :(, and my favorite tricks need them...do i have to buy a new fork, or can i tell Danscomp to put them on or something?) i also heard in austrailia or something all bikes have front brakes because of the law.
i called danscomp, and they said the brake plate, $10, Brakes, $17 (umbre diatech), lever $13 -- Comes out to $415 if i get the Shovelhead. http://www.danscomp.com/489057.php do whats up with this brake plate?
i think my old diamondback had front brakes, but i couldnt find that plate, does it have 990 mounts?

HOFFMAN:

WITH all this weight saving idea im having, will the shovelhead be weaker for a 170lb person?
neithe of those frames look like pretty.
at least better than this:

Get the Eastern, and the brake plate if you really want front brakes.
actually from a beatuy perspective i'd go wtih the cleavland
any dk product is gonna be pretty solid. nothing to special but a good solid part that'll last ya as long as you treat it right
