I raced in the Orlando Downtown triathlon (sprint) yesterday. Almost 600 participants. A great, well organized race. Except the bike, in my opinion, is too short. Should have added an extra lap, making it 15 instead of ten. Too many participants with more time on the run than on the bike, which seems out of balance for a tri.

I raced the Over-40 Clydesdales, and had a great race. Unfortunately, my Champion-Chip came off in the lake, and my splits weren't recorded. At the finish, they said they could use secondary means to come up with my over-all time, but after much debate, that was off by 8 minutes.

I ended up with a 1:12:34, good for 2nd in division, but they somehow came up with a 1:20, which put me in 4th. No problem, I walked away knowing I ran a great race, and in my head, know that I was second!

My splits, and division rankings, would have been as follows:

Swim (1/4): 8:54, 1st
Bike (10.5): 27:50, 1st
Run (3.5): 32:05, 2nd

The guy in first beat me by about 1:10, 30 seconds on the run, the rest in the transition.

Man, losing your chip and the rest could have been a bummer. You're taking it in stride and I take my hat off to you. Great race. Your swim and bike were smokin.

Thanks Jaybird,

I dont really like being a Clyde, but I enjoy kicking other Clydes butts!!

Probably wont be a Clyde next summer, since I will be spending December thru June in the Desert.

So what's the weight threshold for Clydes where you are? Around here, it's either 190 or 200, depending on the race. I started the season out as a Clyde (192-194) for some of the races but dropped 12 lbs during the season.
