Hello All! I'm Marcé (pronounced "Mar-say") from Penfield, NY. (actually borderline between Monroe and Wayne counties). I work as a storage administrator for a local company.

I ran into BikeForums by chance after surfing around looking for biking tips and information. I am the proud owner of a $89 Huffy bike bought @ KMart eons ago that I affectionately have nicknamed the "GreenAnvil". It is really an anvil disguised as a bike... at least it WEIGHTS as much as one. And it's green... (long story, at some point my wife and I realized that we have a tendency to buy things green... our furniture is green, we've had two green minivans, my camera backpack is green... etc). As much as I dislike the anvil's weight, it rides well, it's very sturdy, I'm emotionally attached to it, and plan to keep it (as a 2nd option beater).

Anyway, riding the anvil around the hills of Wayne County takes some serious commitment. After riding with a coworker of mine who got himself a new hybrid, at one point I felt like throwing my anvil down a cliff. :) The turning point came when I decided not to put any more money on truck repairs and on high gas expenses and decided that I was going to commute to work on a bike (anvil or not). It's my own little way of telling the oil powers that they can stick it. :D

So, I started looking around, ran into this forum (and BikeSpeak) and went and got me a Gary Fisher Kaitai, that I can't wait to start riding to work (I'm awaiting for a rack I ordered to arrive).

I have commuted to work several times over the last two weeks; couldn't have done it without the tips I've picked up browsing through BikeForums. Now that I'm officially "onboard" (as a BikeForums member and as a "bike commuter") I know I will need all the moral and emotional support I can get, especially once the long Rochester winter with all the lake effect wonders starts to roll in...

Anyway, I'm very glad to be here and looking forward to share road stories and a laugh or two. We'll see how that goes...

Ride on and wave/honk if you see an anvil on wheels out there on the road... :D

Cool.

I responded to your request --- hope your commute has been fun and uneventful.

Luv the weather this time of year.

39 this morning and still damp from the rain that ended earlier -- but with the proper clothing it's not a problem. :)
