Road Cycling - Clueless in Denver...../

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I am looking for a road bike that I can
use on my <insert name for the thingy you
put your back tire into so you can ride in
place when it's snowing out> and to ride
on the streets.
It doesn't have to be a great bike and I
want to spend between $100 - $400.
I live in Denver so I'm going to start
looking in papers,etc...
Question is, what should I look for?
Brand, make,
Also, is my price range too low to find
something good?
Thanks.

For an indoor training bike, all that matters is that its fits you well and has a saddle you like. Dont worry about weight or components or whether it has the latest combined brake/gear levers or clip-in pedals. The material or brand is irrelevant. You just need something to pedal. A 1970s sports bike can be had for $20 at a garage sale.
As an alternative, you could build up an icebike and ride outside in winter.
Check out icebike.com for some very cool advice.

I agree with Micheal about fit and saddle. If this is your first road bike or won't be your primary road bike, you can get a decent new bike from your LBS for $400. It can be used with your trainer in the winter and road riding in the warmer months. Just visit a few bike shops and tell them what you're interested in and they will take care of the rest. If you want to get more bike for your money, ask about used bikes or contact local cycling clubs to find out if anyone has bikes for sale.
Good luck in your search and welcome to BikeForums.com.
