Alright, I'm going to just jump in and register - that way, there's no turning back unless I want to be out the $31 (including the mandatory associate membership) - $31 is not a lifetime of savings, but that's a dinner at Todai right there!!!

Hi Karen,
Have you been able to look up air quality in the area? I'm just concerned about the smoke and wind and I'm not having much luck googling it. I know there's a wind advisory (up to 35mph gusts through tomorrow night).
Off to keep searching...

For Redlands:
Fire Weather Warning
Statement as of 3:59 PM PDT on October 27, 2006
... Red flag warning remains in effect until 9 PM PDT Saturday...
A red flag warning remains in effect until 9 PM PDT Saturday.
East winds will gust to 35 mph at times tonight... mainly through
east-west canyons. Very poor recoveries of humidities are expected
tonight with some areas having 2 hours or less with the humidity
above 20 percent. Relative humidities will be less than 10 percent
for 10 hours or more again on Saturday.
The combination of gusty winds... low relative humidity... and warm
weather will create an explosive fire growth potential.

Ok, same for Oak Glen and the air quality forecast is moderate

That doesn't sound real promising, but I guess it depends on which way the winds go, huh?
I was soo looking forward to this ride...
There is nothing on the OCW website, I would have thought there would be an update.

Here is the e-mail I received from the OCW guy.
Hi Karen
I was in Redlands today from 10:30 am to about 4 pm.
I drove the route and checked it out. No smoke or
high winds. The area is upwind from the fires
in Beaumont as of today. The ride is still on.
John
sooo, what do you guys think?

Well, I live in Redlands and I haven't noticed any smoke. I just rode downtown to grab a bite to eat and didn't smell anything. I think most of the smoke from the fires is blowing south of here. My parents live in Yucaipa and they haven't noticed any smoke either.
I wouldn't worry about it.

If you want up to date info on air quality use the following link:http://www.aqmd.gov/telemweb/AreaStatus.aspx?sub=1.2&a=17&aVar=owcnt&aName=34
PMI is what your looking for. If it doesn't show up then you know your okay as they don't list it until it gets bad. This link of Corona downwind of the fire shows what PMI looks like on the data and graph
http://www.aqmd.gov/telemweb/AreaStatus.aspx?sub=1&a=35&aVar=ocnpt&aName=22
You can also always call 1-800-Cut-Smog and enter the local zip. It will read you the latest hourly data for the area and warn your if one of the measurements is dangerous.
