Foo - How does your significant other feel about your interest in bikes?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

She is riding now, herself! Gotta give her credit, she made an 8 mile ride today on an 80 pound Adult trike! (Not a recumbent, an old granny trike!) This was in ttraffic as well! Hooyah!

I get a lot of support. I hardly spend money on anything else. It's clean and healthy, and although it's addiciting, it isn't drugs or alcohol. I don't buy jewelry, expensive clothes or fancy shoes. I don't use make up or get things that are not needed.

since im only 15 and single my dad doesnt really support it, he thinks me working on the bikes means i broke it, my mom supports me and doesnt care as long as im good in school. But she does complain that i spend to much money on upgrades, which IMO i do hardley any.

The beauty of liking older bikes, is you can have a bunch of projects without spending a lot of money. This keeps the bookkeeper happy, but can clutter the place up if you get carried away. Everything is ok at the present, but I need to get rid of a couple so I don't get in trouble if I pick up another one (which I'm planning on).

She goes along on every ride with me, usually operating the rear brake and derailleur.

Well, we're car-free, and two weeks ago she rode 60 miles on a montain bike with loaded panniers and her previous longest ride was 30 miles the weekend before.
Yeah, I think she's fine with it. ;)

My wife thinks I'm crazy, that I obsess over bikes, that I spend too much money on bikes, that I spend too much time riding my bike. I can't get her to ride much at all so I have started working on my stepdaughter and eldest granddaughter by getting them bikes. My son-in-law won't ride with me anymore since our one road ride left him gasping in pain; he chose the route and I was nice enough to ride my mtb. instead of my roadie. He also felt I was endangering his life by taking him on a certain mountain trail. What a whuss.
No matter. I still plan on getting more bikes and riding more. I noticed one shop in town has a penny farthing in the front window. And I saw a couple riding a tandem the other day; that looked like fun.
So many bikes, what a wonderful world.
My bf is more obessed with bikes then me. I guess that is why we have so many bikes. The great thing is we both LOVE LOVE the sport and love to ride with eachother. He is a much better mountain biker then me, where I love the road much more then him. It works great for us. :)
