Punch Drunk

Seems a car trying to parallel park ruined my front wheel while my bike was chained to a parking meter
(shame on me, I know). Anyway, the wheel that was ruined was a Wolber Modele 58 Super Champion. I'd
like to replace the wheel without going backward in quality, but I have a couple of concerns. First of all, I
need a 27" wheel - will this be a problem finding that size? (I would think not). Secondly, the bike is rather
old (1985 Specialized Expedition) and has 126mm dropouts. Will that present a problem? (I would think so).
Lastly, if it's possible to get a new wheel of comparable quality in the size I want, what can I expect to
pay?
Lastly lastly, what about rebuilding it? The LBS says it can be done but at a devalued cost. I'm thinking
that maybe it won't be a poor value if all I have to do is replace a rim rather than a whole wheel. Thoughts?
Any help or comments or cool links greatly appreciated.
