I have mechanical disc brakes on my bike. Today was my first commute of the season to feature rain, and every time i would apply the front break, it would make a REALLY loud squeaking noise. The effectiveness of the brakes themselves don't seem to be compromised any more than I would expect for them being wet, but it is annoying as heck. Does the pad just need adjusting or cleaning or something? Or will I just have to live with this?

Should not squeal. Try cleaning the rotor and pads with alcholol and check to see if that helps. If not, your brakes need adjustment. What kind are they?

From my understanding they will squeal when they are wet but will still brake as well as they do when it's dry.
