Hey All!
My name is Karen and I have been "lurking" for a while.
I am finally introducing myself and saying Hello.
I am a member over at Team Estrogen, and some of our members are on
bike forums, so I thought I would join too!
I do both mtb and road riding, although since I started road riding in April of this year, I am
Hooked!! I like it better the mtn biking! I have done two centuries so far,
the Cool Breeze and the Amtrak. I am signed up to the Grand Tour Lite this coming
weekend as well!
I am always looking for riding partners as I ride by myself often.

Thanks!
Karen

Welcome! I see you are in the TO area. Do you ride with any of the local clubs? I ride with Agoura Cycles on Saturday mornings. We have a good group of 15-30 people, with two routes; a 20/40+ miler. No drops and good fun! CVC also takes off from the Bank of America building near the Oaks on Saturdays.

To be honest I have not gotten up the nerve to ride with a club yet!!! How sad is that?
I ride locally most every weekend so I am sure I have seen your group!!
I am kinda of shy about showing up at a group ride. I will have to check it out sometime.

I've never tried a club ride before either. But I can vouch for the friendliness of the SoCal BikeForums riders. You could always try joining one of our rides if riding with others intimidates you.

Our ride is perfect for newbies as there is a no drop policy. The pace is reasonable with re-groups so you don't get behind. We always have 2-4 of the shop guys plus the owner with us and if you get a flat, they often grab the bike and change out the tube for you!

You can do the 20 mile ride or the 40. Sometimes the short ride hangs with the longer one until the half way point. One week we put nametags on the backs of our jerseys so everyone would know the names. Course they fell off when we got sweaty but by then we knew each other!

It's a mix of guys and girls, and not dominated by racers and the group is very friendly and fun!

Hello Karen,

One of our club members used to live near Thousand Oaks and drove down to Long Beach every Saturday and some Sundays to ride with our club. He now lives a bit closer (near LAX) and is still a very active member.

Not that I'm suggesting that you come all the way down here just to ride with us. ;)

Welcome to a great virtual club, BikeForums SoCal.

Welcome I'm on board. I'm new around here also. From what I can tell, everyone around here is very friendly, and there's a good number of people who are in a double secret post count competition :-)

I've ridden with one person from bike forums so far, but have been on the lookout for those who told me they frequent SFVBC rides. Everybody in the local clubs as well as the BF have been friendly. You shouldn't be shy, you don't even have to talk to anyone on the group ride if you don't want to.
