Any ideas?

Easton's posts are getting horrible reviews...looks like problems with the clamps.

Thomson has no setback...and I don't like the looks of the bent Elites :)

Raceface? Something else?

the easton seat posts have a set back on them. I know for sure that the EC 70 does

I heard Easton improved their clamp for '03, but I can't find them in stock anywhere. I'll give them a look. Someone also recommended Ritchey?


I'm in no hurry though...it'll be a while before the damn trails are ready :crash:

Thompsons...the set back on the eastons are weak...(from what I heard)...in this case Thompson are great...(in most cases actually)

Thomson's are the best!

Raceface's XY's have like 1-1/2" setback, but I'd get a bent Thomson over the RF!

No...if you want a layback get a layback...Thompson makes the best laybacks...if getting a straight I wouldn't get a thompson...Raceface and easton will be fine :)

Maelstrom, why not a Thomson if going with straight one?I haven't had any problems with mine. Just wondering what your reasons are.

You kind of misread...and I didn't type it right. thompsons are awesome all around but for laybacks the Thompsons rule. Otherwise for straight ups they are equal with the others listed...imo Around here Thompsons are VERY expensive and not worth the extra cash compared to the other straight up seat posts.

No problem. You've got a point - Thomson's definitely run a bit on the expensive side.

Get an 03 Easton carbon. I just crashed sooooo hard and broke my seat, well bent the bejesus out of it and no issues with the clamp or anything else. I weigh 225 and it hasn't given me any problems.
