I can see the internal-geared hub, and then there's a deraileur? I've seen bikes with a 5 spd casette and an internal hub, but this doesn't look to have any external rear gears. Any thoughts?

chain tension. it has a redundent pulley but I guess it saves a couple bucks from having to buy a "real" tensioner.

is it even a derailleur? I can't see that the linkage could possibly move side to side to change gears. Looks like one of the newer generation of singlespeed tensioners designed to accomodate a wide chain tension range eg on full suspension mountain bikes.
I need one of those computers all the top crime fighting labs have. "enhance" "zoom" "enhance"

good point. I didn't even look that closely and just saw the two pulleys.

No lateral movement, just a tensioner.

It is a new bianchi w/ a new Shimano nexus 8 with a rear disc brake. I beleive the tensioner is on there becuase there is no eccentric bottom bracket and it allows the abiltiy to adjust the rear wheel.
