I'm frequently surprised at the number of roadies that want to buy used parts or get an awesome deal but have never heard of the bike swapmeets in their area, so I wanted to let you all know the Encino Velodrome www.encinovelodrome.org is having their twice-a-year bike swapmeet at 2pm this Saturday. After that, stay for the races that evening, which I believe is free admission for spectators!!!

I haven't been to this in about 10 years, but last time I went there were deals on NOS stuff shops were getting rid of, new stuff people never used, stuff used 1 season because the racer is getting a different sponsor next year, new stuff people won in primes and never wanted, used stuff from people upgrading, etc. When I was racing, I used to build up bikes with full Ultegra and titanium this and that for under $1000! Not that I need anything, but I'll be there just to look around and watch the races.

edit: I told you the time and place, but not the day! fixed.

The racing should be pretty good-- it's the last race in a series where there are trophies for overall, best endurance, best sprinter, and most aggressive in each category. The 1/2/3 category is still up for grabs with a couple of people close together on points, but turnout may be light if people don't want to take any racing risks a couple weeks before nats.

Sorry, I listed time and place, but failed to mention the day. It's this Saturday, sorry if I had anyone asking their boss to get off work early today! :D

I've always wanted to build a fixie, this may be the perfect opportunity to start the project. I'll be there. Thanks, Bone

I was going to just look around, but now I'll be looking for a fork and some cables!
