Need some help... u may recall recently i got a Sirrus Sport 07 (hybrid) ($710) as a road bike seemed uncomfortable to me.
Well after 3-4 weeks or riding i find myself wishing i had got a road bike and tested out a 2006 Specialized Allez Sport ($850) yesterday and well it felt pretty good.
Here's the question.
My LBS has told me they will allow me to actually trade that Sirrus back in and they will deduct $30 for the wheels and $60 for a full cleaning (chains, sprockets etc) and i get the rest on trade in and pay the difference. I may get a few credits even cuz i have a $50 specialized stem on there.
Now the question is, should i do this? Yes it seems comfortable on a quick test ride... im assuming when i take it 20-30 miles as my rides usually go, it should be nice and comfy.
If i take a road bike off a 4 inch curb at a low speed at 200 lbs am i asking for trouble?
My hybrid has wheels that are a bit wider than a typical road bike while the allez is all road bike... at 200lbs should upgrade those wheels or get slightly wider wheels or am i ok?
I guess i am trying to figure out if i am asking for trouble switching out a bike i am realtively comfortable but thing is.. after 20-30 mile rides my triceps are screaming because i tend to try to get into a more down position than is allowed on a typical hybrid and this is wreaking havoc on my arms.
I was thinking about keeping it as a separate city bike etc but its just so close to a road bike (not like a trek 7.5 which is more mtn).
also, i am quite certain that by the time warm weather rolls around in ny again, i will be in the 170 range.... and the hybrid was really bought more as a comfort bike because i was closer to 215 or so when i got it and off a bike for 12 years or so. ive put 150 miles on this thing in the last 3 weeks and heck next summer i wanna be doing centuries and i cant be doing that on a hybrid can i?
thats about it. any comments would be appreciated.
