Never listen to hard rock really loud while flying in a Trans Am by yourself on an open highway. Guarantees you blue sparkles in the mirror. :o

Have you ever got a ticket while sitting at home on the couch? I did a few months ago. My son was driving my daughter's car and got stopped for expired inspection. Since my name is on the registration, guess who's name was on the ticket? :(
Siu, that does give me an idea for a new thread...

I stopped but he saw my plate frame (I'm exempt). Then he looked at the ID that I keep in that car. We chatted a bit and I was on my way. I've always been ticket free. It just doesn't look good. The thing is, I hardly ever drive that car.
Any other bonehead tips?

How???
My first ticket: 85 in a 55 listening to The Smiths' How Soon is Now as loud as my little Chevette could play it. Thankfully, The CHP wrote it for like 69mph so I avoided mega mega $$$.
Never accept a ride from Willie Nelson or Nate Newton if you are hitch hiking in Louisiana. It will get you blue sparkles and shiny bracelets.

Plate frame you can only get from the PD. Each PD has their own plate frame that they put on their personal vehicles. Car is registered to me and as joint with a Sergeant of said PD. Each frame has a code number displayed. Code number is called in for verification. You must have a PD ID to go with the verification.

In Maine 30 over is classified as criminal speed...go to jail, go directly to jail...

Never assume your rotors are cooled down enough after a long ride down.
Never assume that the shut off valve to a sink faucet actually shuts off the water! Ask me how I know this, I dare ya.

Exempt!? Thats ridiculous... so the police can speed when they want to and it isnt illegal, even off duty?
*snicker* Do tell. :D
So the wife decides she wants a new stainless sink and faucet in the kitchen to replace the beat up porcelain one. We go to Depot and pick it out, bring it home and she takes the boys somewhere so I can work in peace. I turn off the water under the sink, disconnect all the lines and as soon as I lift the sink off the cabinet, water begins to spray EVERYWHERE. Mad dash ensues as I grab my shut off wrench and head out the front door to the shut off valve at the curb. 30 minutes later after using every dry towel in my car wash collection and my wet dry vac I finally get back to installing that sink, and putting a new washer in that blankety blanking shut off valve.
I laugh now, but I was MAD at the moment it happened and i had no one to blame but me.

Do not spraypaint stuff while barefoot. It's really hard to get that $h|t off the bottom of your feet.

I'm not an officer. But there are times when an off duty officer has responded to a crime. And they also have to go through very rigorous pursuit training classes on a continual basis (which I have completed). That's why I say it looked bad. I screwed up. There was no reason for me to speed other than me being stupid. Hence the "boneheadedness" of it!! :p

Thats the advantage of driving a big old ugly ****box. I've never been pulled over, and I drive 20 over on the freeway pretty regularly. A trans am is going to attract the fuzz no matter what speed you're going.
My bonehead tip of the day is to use floride rinse when you drink 3 glasses of juice per day.

so... you can speed pass limit because it's a PD car? so.. if all pd cars can speed and be exempt.. does that exempt us from being in danger on the road cause it didnt matter since the one speeding was from the PD department?

Oh I agree with you there. I should have gotten a ticket. But that doesn't mean the lessen wasn't learned. Trust me, I realized how stupid it was. There was not another car around when I did it. It was a rush. Then I passed an on-ramp and guess who was on it? :o

Yeah, that's why you use the lesser known speed roads. I know of one in particular in SJ that has next to zero police enforcement, and very little traffic at all.
Either that or take hwy5....it seems 100mph is standard operating procedure on that road.
Oh, and never, never drift the 17n -> 280s interchange....cops like hiding on 280 right around there.

Oh, and never drift a blind turn at night in the wet, going 50mph over the posted speed (35mph turn, I was attacking it at 85+....this was back in my "****** days")....that was about 2 inches from ending badly, according to my friend, who was behind me. I almost ate a curb.

Lol you thinkthat's bad.
UIm coming back from Dallas to Houston. nearly 300 mile trip iirc.
Middle of the night, everything power related went out so I had no A/C and couldn't roll windows down. I was lucky to have my lights. Half way through the trip, I'm tired as ****, thirsty as **** and hot as ****.
And i see this pair of lights bearing down on me exctremely fast, probably doing 100+ mph because I was bouncing between 70 and 75 since I also had no cruise control.,
I manage to get into the other lane as it whizzes by and I see it's a state trooper with NO lights on.
He [bnearly rearends[/b] a vehicle in front of him who is going about 70-75 because i had been hanging with the group of 3 cars. So after nearly rearending them twice, the cars of course pull over so the cop can go by, despite not having any cars but when a cop nearly rearends you at 100+ you get the **** out of the way. And 2 seconds later he pulls into their lane and turns his lights on and pulls somebodyh over.
Like wow,m that had to be the biggest ****head thing I've seen a cop do since I saw the cop aim his car right at me, stare right at me and try to run me over.

Fort Worth has these awesome circles that you take to get on and off of certain highways. I try to take them at 50-60. That's about the fastest I can take them with my non-sports car with cheap tires :p But its funny to do those at night at 50mph and watch everybody grab onto somethingg.

This was on my 4-cyl 1992 LX Mustang. No power, but the handling could be summed up in 3 words: Ebola pavement virus.
Seirously, the weight ratio was perfect for it's wheelbase. Only bad part was the craptastic Bridgestones I had on it. $500 set of tires, and that was just "OEM replacement". :(

Exempt!? Thats ridiculous... so the police can speed when they want to and it isnt illegal, even off duty?
Most jobs have their own perks if you ride with the flow of the world.Heh, heh... life isn't so black & white in yes/no terms; there's a lot of shades of grey in between... One has to separate the "intent of the law" from the actual words and procedures. Selective enforcement is part of being a police officer.
If you look up the NHTSA data on auto-crashes, you'll find that only 4% of all traffic fatalities occur on the freeway, the majority of them, 75%, happen at intersections on city streets. So how fast you go on the freeway actually is inconsequential to overall traffic fatality numbers. Some other data points to consider:
1. When the national speed-limit was raised to 65mph from 55mph, contrary to many doom&gloom predictions by insurance-companies, highway accidents and fatalities actually decreased!
2. The Montana Experiment, with "safe & prudent" no-limit speeds during the day from 1996-2001 had the lowest fatality rates that state had ever recorded. After they re-instated the 65mph limit in order to not lose federal highway funds, fatalities went back up.
We have to get away from the urban-legend myths of "speed-kills" which came out of the mass-market brainwashing used to gain support for the original 55mph speed-limit; whose intent was NOT about safety, but rather to conserve gasoline due to the oil-crunch of the '70s. Traffic-fatality rates now at 65mph is still safer than during the 55mph era. And the Europeans with much worse roads than us and higher or unlimited speed-limits, are yet even safer than us (although they also have much higher safety-requirements for the cars).
Looking at just speed as the holy-grail of safety is ignoring all the other factors. The most significant factor more directly related to safety than anything else is driver-skill and training.
stop crying! I cant stand when girls cry!... I was more wondering about the mentallity of this all more then pointing the finger at ya! Bah! I like making girls cry...
