Mountain Biking - Stumpjumper M2?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Anyone have experience with this bike? I think its either 2000 or 2001 frame. I can get it for $799 which is slightly above what I was looking for. I was actually thinking about the Trek 4900 range. But if this is a better bike I would consider spending a bit more.
Thanks in advance.

The M2 is a good frame, but it's older than 2000, I think by then they were already producing M4 frames, however, I could be wrong.
What components are on it?
If it's frame only, I'd pass. You can get a newer frame NEW for around $800.

I've got an M2... freaking thing is sweet!!! And ya it is older than 2000... they had the M4's out already. 799 is high too... like A2 said you can get a new one for around that price!
But if you can get a better price on the frame, you wont be disappointed! I've had mine for ever, and I've been extremely happy with it. The frame is a little heavier than others...but it's super super stiff! So in my eyes, I'll deal with the weight and have less flex!

Thanks for the quick response guys. I think I confused you on the frame description. I meant that the whole bike is $799. Its brand new in the bike store and I guess its older year than I thought. Is 799 still too much for the this bike. Or should I just go for the Trek 4900 at 400 dollars.
Update: Just saw these reviews and it seems like a 2000 model.

What components are one it? the 4900 has low end parts on it... the two bikes aren't even in the same planet... the two are just way different in quality. Check out something new around that price range like the treck 6700

oh and i do have actual pics of this bike. PM me is you're interested.
but I think you could find something for less than 799 or the same price with better parts... that is all depending on what it has on it. See if you can even get them to sell that thing cheaper!
So give us some more info on what it has on it!

Component spec is very important, as was already pointed out. I'd be a bit cautious considering the fact that it has been sitting around for years.
