I got the following in my email today:
Hi All,
In memory of John Peckham, and in order to make an
accomodation for the Alto Velo memorial ride this
Sunday, we will be moving the Vuelta dates (originally
scheduled for 9/23-24) to 9/30-10/1.
I realize and understand that not everyone will be
happy with this decision. After weighing all of the
options that we thought of - I felt that this was the
best one. Please accept my apologies for any
inconvenience that this has caused: refunds will be
issued for those who cannot make the Vuelta.
As a result, I hope that my actions don't create a
lost cause. I encourage everyone to show your support
for John, for those touched by him, and for the
cycling community - by wearing your SJBC kit and
riding in the memorial ride (due to long-term plans I
won't be able to make it).
