Road Bike Racing - U23 Kenyan TT :)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
It's a pity that most of you are going to miss the coverage of a Kenyan U23 Time Trialist.
He took off down the ramp, but hadn't set his computer on. So he was trying to get it going (at least that's what it looked like to me) and kept riding.
Once he did that, he got out of the saddle and gunned it, but didn't look up in time BOOM he t-boned an official, who was on the course, but not necessarily in the way. What I mean by that is that the TT'r would have gone right into some gates if he hadn't nailed the official. He was going straight when he should have been going right-ish through a chicane.
Priceless stuff. :roflmao:

And to think if we were a main stream sport that would have easily made the top 10 on sportscenter

Don't laugh too hard. Five years from now we could be talking about him winning the worlds.
I give anyone from Africa kudos just for making it to the event, especially a kid.

Didn't he still finish ahead of the American champion? Tough kid.
Anyone who follows track & field or road races knows that Kenyans are to be feared. Maybe in a couple of years they could be dominating this sport too. Hell, they can keep a 5:15 pace for 26 miles on foot. Just imagine what they could do with some gears!

don't know his story, but fwiw he's an ethnic minority in Kenya

tried to find some more info on him, but couldn't come up with much apart from the fact that sometimes he's listed as being south african, and others as kenyan.
he finished 36th

Was it a full-frontal hit or just side-swipe?

Yeah, if you watched only the news you wouldn't realize most african countries are multi-ethnic
I'm Kenyan (black) and I lived in a neighborhood in Nairobi that had a huge indian population and some whites. One of my best friends in High School was a Sikh. And the M.P (Parliamentary Representative) for our area was white (Leakey).
I just realized that the outfit the rider is wearing has the Kenyan National Colors. Now, where can I get my hands on that:D

Surprising. I thought only blacks were that dumb.
You coloreds better get on the ball if youre ever going to get in on the pro cicuit.
You fine with that example? Racial remarks are racial remarks. Dont make the mistake af making them.

My comment wasn't directed at you nor was it a criticism. I was just trying to make a point that race just an inaccurate marker as is nationality.

Looks like he had the presence of mind (or at least reflexes) to get both feet unclipped before hitting the ground.
that would be called 'popping out of the pedals'. there was no time to unclip.

I hate when that happens in a sprint...damn near killed myself once when my right foot popped out...
