Once again I have to replace my bike computer. I just cannot seem to find one that will last through our rainy winters. Anyone have a suggestion? I would like to keep it under $75. Thanks

I use the sigma 500 I think, their bottom of the line.

I use the Cateye kind . . . it's not too expensive and has lasted a couple years so far.

I figure an $80 computer and a $15 computer are going to react the same when they meet the pavement or I do something stupid like put it in my pocket and throw the pants in the washer. I tend to avoid them altogether and if necessary get a not-too-crappy-seeming cheap one. My commute is too short for me to care how fast I'm going.

I've heard of people stretching a condom over their computer to seal out water. Sounds a little funky to me.

My son bought me one for Christmas, and I was so VERY pleased, but it crapped out from the weather after two weeks. I've used my GPS as a speedo and odo and such, but just enough to get accustomed to the data on my regular commute. Once in a while I kind of wish I had a good computer, but then I think, "What the heck. Am I going to pedal faster or slower based on some numbers clicking by on my handle bars?" I think not.

I have had good luck with several Cateyes, but the Cateye Enduro 2 on my touring bike is probably the most bomb proof. Believe it was intended for mountain bikes. For a cheap one, I have an Avenir that I paid $7 for at the Seattle swap meet a few years ago & it is still going strong although the display flickers sometimes, it has done this since new. Don

i have a cateye enduro on my MTB, it needs a battery change once a year but it seems quite durable and well sealed. How about using the quick detach feature most of the computers have, and just don't use it in heavy rain.

I've had a Sigma BC1200 for over a year with no problems.
