I go to try to take out my 3ttt stem today, and wtf....its got a non-existent allen head size?
The biggest allen in my allen set is too small. My grandfather gave me some loose allens recently and the smallest of those is too big. anyone knows what the deal is? did 3ttt make their own wrenches for chrissakes?

Er, none of the metric sizes fit? What is the size around? Could be imperial.
3TTT is an Italian compnay. I can't imagine that it's an original part - since when did the Italians work in Imperial? Did you buy it with the bike - as in was it fitted before purchase?

I got the bike from goodwill. The stem is not an original component, but whomever had the bike before me put it on. I read somewhere that 3ttt uses 7mm which is extremely rare. poop! ive tried sticking rubber in there with the 6mm but it aint working, time to make some phone calls
Just get a 7mm wrench from Sears. It's not that big.

Or a 7 mm allen from Signet tools
Cinelli used a 7mm SHCS with their classic stems in the '70s but were nice enough to include the required allen wrench with the stem.

No but someone coudl've substituted the bolt.

called up the LBS and they had a 7mm allen. guy gave it to me for a buck. schwing!

Yep, that's what I was getting at.
I've got an old 3ttt stem. It has the "3ttt" logo stamped into the aluminum rather than stenciled, on the front in 3/8" letters. It also uses a 7mm stem bolt. Sears had the wrench in stock but it came packaged in a plastic sleeve with a 6mm, so I had to purchse both. About $6.00.
Be glad you didn't strip it trying to use a slightly too small allen key like I did on my ITM seat post. Now I've got to break out the cold-weld to get the stripped head out and find a replacement bolt. :o

+1 to the surprising and kind of irritating 7mm bolt on the 3t stems. Bizarre. It's hard to find 7mm allen keys here too - and I work in the tool industry!
