Do you have "target races" that you pick and try to peak for each year?

My coach and I talked about targeting last night. Unfortunately, my target race (stage race) is right in the middle of a typically dead time of racing around here (first weekend of June) so really, I'm only targeting one major A race next year.

Well....next year will hopefully be my first year of racing if all goes as planned, so I have focused on the Housatonic Hills Road Race as one of my first events. It's a pretty popular race in the New England area.

Mt. Hamilton Road Race, Pescadero Road Race, Patterson Pass Road Race and Mt. Tam Hill Climb. The more climbs the better.

Those sound good.
I'll also add San Bruno Hill Climb on 1/1/07 (Only 102 days away!)
& Mt. Diablo Hill Climb,

I love the local climbsm but my main focus for 2007 will be the masters 35+ national championships road race.

Poolesville Road Race, Bunny Hop criterium. Anything that has a finish that suits my style. Poolesville 'cause I crush people on that dirt section.

is it possible to "peak" from jan-sept? I am going for the shotgun method to upgrading so any uscf race is a target race.

These races plus Mt. Diablo hill climb, Alumni Crit in Berkeley, Davis 4th of july crit, University road race, Crit in Santa Clara, Giro di San Francisco, Mt. Diablo challenge ( I will do it one of these days). All I can think off from a top of my head, will add more later.

Yep I've got my entire season from Jan through May all picked out and which races will be my A/B/C races.

They usually recommend no more than 2-3 "A' priority races, right?

What Cat are you now and what are you trying to get to?

The best way to upgrade by doing real well in a few A races that you try to peak for.

Are you trying to go from Cat 4 to Cat 3 using the "25 pack finishes" method? If that's the case then a nine month "peak" of mediocrity should work.:D

^ those are my main focus also.

+ pine flat, wente, early bird road race, & cal cup series. and a few crits for practice.

I have a very small target. Any reasonably close road races with a Masters 55+ category. :)
