Anything by Creative Labs will be pretty good. Boston Acoustic also makes some nice ones that aren;t too expensive.

So judging by the replies there aren't many decient low cost systems out there.Ether that or a lot of you people don't care, it's just noise.

ummmmmmmm if you're willing to spend 100 bucks you can find stuff at best buy
at 45 bucks the logitech Z3 is the best bet
although my brothers logictech sounds weirder compared to mine.

If you're an "audiophile" you really shouldn't be scoffing at people who aren't audio philes at the same time asking for the cheapest one. :) I believe you're looking at 200+ for audiophiliac.

I have used Boston Accoustics and Logitech and both are great. Altec Lansing is also another good one but i think that is in the 90-110 range again.

I have the JBL Alien II satellite speaker system with sub, sounds great, and looks great too. However, the Harmon Kardon Sound Sticks II for about $30 more are even better sounding...the JBL's can sound a tad tinny, but for me, I havent had any complaints with the JBL.
