I am starting up a surf band and it is starting to rock. This stuff is fun to play, and even though I have no clue how to get up on a surf board I am digging the action and movement in the music- sometimes instead of rolling waves I envision myself bombing downhill or flying along singletrack while I play it.
Dick dale, the ventures, man or astro man, etc etc... This stuff is awesome. Anybody else listen to it while they ride or whatever?
Also, we are in serious need of a band name. So if anyone has suggestions they would be much appreciated.

Do you do any snow boarding up there in VT? Thats pretty close to surfing.

What kind of echo and reverb are you using? I just picked up this Lexicon mpx100 processor. That with amp reverb and an old Boss DD2 delay pedal has incredible echoes and delays.

Still there is nothing like a vintage tape delay combined with a Fender reverb unit.

Have you ever seen band name generators?

True about snow boarding, I don't do it though...

I'm using a tech 21 trademark 60 combo, it is probably the best solid-state amp I've ever played and it can approximate a fender twin fantastically. The reverb is nothing special, but turned up halfway and with the right touch on the guitar, it gets the job done very well. Other than that, I keep the signal totally dry but I may start using my trem/o.d./delay pedals eventually. I'm trying to nail it with the clean sound first, and I have a ton of gear but am not looking to spend any $ on new stuff that would be really nice, like a reverb tank....

I'm playing a seafoam green Fender Jag-Stang that fits the part really well too, with the whammy bar for the shimmers or the dive-bombs.

oh my god, the band name generator is hilarious!!!!!! here's what I got at random, and boy is it a gem:

Infinite Center of the Rhino Anus

I'll see what the boys think of that name!

how about "Thee Wipeouts"?

- a name I still remember from a long-defunct local surf band was "The Testostertones"

The Trashmen (Surfin' Bird) were from Minnesota, and the Astronauts were from Colorado. Neither band knew how to surf, but they both sure as hell knew how to play surf music.

I would suggest The Butthole Surfers, but unfortunately it is
already taken.

I love surf music. Southern Culture on the Skids is so good!

And I am terrible at coming up with band names.
