So what happened?

Race went pretty well. We were 45 seconds behind the lead group coming in to the gwb. But I had to wait for my partner and by the time he caught up, we were 7 minutes behind. Had to find the check point at central park, STOPPED FOR WATER... then had to slow down going through flushing meadow park. All in all, we missed 5th place and 1 point by 3 minutes.

It was totally rad. Me and Slvoid were a team and got 6th in the road/street portion. I sucked on the track considering the 60 mile warm up lap to Nyack and back. I kept trying to sprint but my legs wouldn't do it. 1:46 for a 1000k.

Despite the moderate placement and soul deadening appearance of the race it was a blast and felt great to finish. I'd recommend it to anyone who's done a century or two and rides daily in the city.

Thanks to the organizers, support team other riders and slvoid for picking up the slack.

eh hm...7 minutes and 45 seconds that is :)

Those hills really killed me riding 48/15. Time to get the flip/flop hub and different cogs on each side. The first pack to the bridge nearly beat the support van. They did it in 50 minutes.

Making us deep throat that brown twinkie was a pretty sick joke too. I almost died choking on that thing.

You mean there were checkpoint tasks too? I thought it was a straight up race.

There was a secret checkpoint in CP. It was kind of nice to have the sugar but twinkies aren't the way to deliver it.

This is the route we took, complete with the small amount of getting lost in Queens. I disagree that we lost time going through the park. It was a good shortcut.

well, thanks for coming out everyone! from where I'm standin' that looked like a lot of fun. :D

...so we had 19 teams at Nyack, and guess what people?? 19 teams FINISHED!
For a beautiful day of riding/racing what, 50 miles or more I would have to say that this is incredible. All of you who came out deserve friggin medals. We had people of all levels of experience there - some had never done nyack or the track but in the end you put it all aside and just attacked.

you all made this race possible, and thanks very much for that. from the racers to our glorious helping hands, thanks.
ya'd better believe we'll be doing this again in the spring. those who raced will have the advantage of being a veteran of this run.
so start training now!

p.s. cookie will be throwing results at ya soon. congrats to the 1,2,3,4,5's...

also: ken said from brooklyn to nyack to queens to brooklyn was about 83 miles for him.
many of y'all damn near rode a century and didn't even know it!

My team came in second to last and we are already planning to change that for next year. The whole event was a blast!
