Ouch! Oh my gosh! Anyone here ever have probs with H's? I'm so anxious to get back on the bike but scared to do so? What works to get rid of the problem and what works to prevent?

I know, I know, I know! Gross! But hey, it happens.

Preperation H and a grooved saddle to ease the pressure in the pineal reagion. Keep it dry and clean and think about getting them FIXED!

Dietary changes may help...less meat, more veggies. Other than that, cream, padded shorts, and depending on the architecture of your ride, if a hybrid or MTB, maybe a comfort saddle?http://webpages.charter.net/kylegdb/smilies/41.gif

They weren't caused by riding were they?

+1 for getting them removed. Not a fun proceedure to have, but well worth it. You'll be back in the saddle in no time.

Take warm baths - "sitz baths" I think they call em. Keep the area clean and dry. Use witch hazel to help with the swelling. Then wait. I could take 2 - 6 weeks.

+1 for the grooved/cutout saddle. It puts the pressure on your sit-bones and has the added plus of not having your junk fall asleep on long rides.

Hi CalPastor!

I feel your pain. ;) What has worked for me over the past two decades is the regimen recommended by my doctor: Avoid internal and external irritation.

To avoid internal, use a stool softener such as Metamucil after each meal. To avoid external, shave the area and pat dry after defecation instead of scrubbing.

With these measures, you should be able to ride without pain.

+1 on the stool softener, after I wipe, I use a medicated towelette (with witch hazel) and of course, creme or supositories when they're real bad.

Mine also bleed. First started when I was 12 following a bike accident. Was doing a wheelie and looped over and landed on my buttocks. Started bleeding then.

Will have to eventually have them removed, but waiting for the new insurance to kick in. (New Job).
