Anyone from Vancouver? I'm trying to find out what the riding is like up there for the next few months... good road rides? commuting ok or treacherous?

Thanks,

I've visited quite a bit, you won't be disappointed by the biking.

What's the weather like lately? Do you know if it is cold/rainy most of the time in March/April?
Trying to figure out how to prep for riding up there.

Thank you!:)
Looks like I'm going to need some fenders! I guess the question isn't "does it rain?" but rather, "when doesn't it rain!"

The reason you're not getting any responses is that all the Vancouver, BC cyclists are out riding. I'm waiting to go out later.

Right now it is cloudy and sunny, the roads are dry, the winds are light. Beautiful. I need to get out!!!

We've had some rain but that doesn't stop the real cyclists. We put on fenders. The forecast for the next couple of days calls for rain. By Wednesday we expect the sun to break out and the rest of the week, hmmm.

Last Friday called for rain, but I cycled in to work (26k) caught a little sprinkle on the last 8k. The ride home was wonderful...15C and sunny.

So, when are you coming to Vancouver and for how long?

Check out the roads to UBC, the airport, Richmond, Zero Avenue, heck, everywhere. On my ride yesterday morning, my friend and I came across 3 clubs out for a ride.

Let us know.

Check out the Vancouver Bicycle Club. They have a couple of rides during the week. Here is their link.

Have a look at the following link as well:

Bring your rain vest anyways.

Have a safe trip up and welcome to Vancouver. You might not want to leave.

Hey there,

My husband and I live in Vancouver (near UBC). We commute to work in Burnaby every day. This week has been bad weather-wise. It has been raining and windy most of the week. But then, the rain part of it is nothing new around here..For us Vancouverites, it is our way of life..:)

Vancouver has got one of the best bike route networks I know. Check this out..

You can go from almost anywhere to anywhere around here on traffic-calmed bike routes. Many people bike in our city and so motorists, though some dont behave like that, are quite used to bicyclists.

Last but not least, welcome to Vancouver!

Cheers,
Raji.

Vancouver is a cyclists Nirvana.

Those are great mountains to climb if you want, or how about that huge park right in the middle of town? Go around downtown and UBC right next to the ocean. Lots of pastoral farmland is in reach close by. Drivers are friendly and weather is mild all year around. There is a huge population of regular riders.

Thanks,
I live here, commute and race. Some of the best road rides on the planet are here. Great mountan rides and sea side rides. Commuting can be great or crap depending on your rout. Usually a good rout can be found depending on your destination.

I can show you around if you like.
