Some interesting ideas but I still won't buy it...it will be too expensive and too proprietary...

and that axel mounted rear deraileur is a little scarey for freeriding. The mechanics behind the deraileur look good. Shorter cage it seems but I like disposable dropouts. They finally went 20mm as well. Good to see but again too proprietary and I hate proprietary :)

You know, I kinda like the new stuff. Granted, it's gonna cost a small fortune, but I tired of breaking my "super light weight" XC stuff. Nice to see some innovative stuff.

Finally a 20mm thru axle option on the front hub, but that means going with their discs. I think I'll keep my Profile Racing ones.

I've often thought about incorporating the axle and derailleur hanger. This could open up the doors for Freeride bikes to have horizontal drop-outs like the BMX bikes w/o sacrificing shifting performance. You would however, need to have the disc caliper on some type of adjustable mounting plate. Could be the wave of things to come!

I don't know if I'd go as far as saying innovative? There are many other companies that have a 20mm hub. And no one else has come up with(god I hate this word) "freeride" stuff? I think shimano has taken way to long to come out with this stuff! And with how much time they took you'd expect much much more from them! And what's the deal with using adjustable cones on DH and FR stuff? Just another thing to snap and adjust! I really was expecting more from them!
The rear der? come on why would I want to put my rear der. on my axle... granted it does make some sense...but then if you think...hmmm it mounts to the axle...what happens when I crash! I got an axle and a der. to bend or brake when it hits something! And what about the inovative shifter? HMMMM I don't see one do you? what are we supposed to use the new xc levers/shifter combo? YA right

sorry for the vent there guys!

Over all I just think shimano could have done a much better job than what they have served up on a fancy platter but it's all the same stuff!
