Just a quick "heads up"

You may be aware that McBride Cycle is now bankrupt and has closed their doors after 75 years...the receiver will be clearing their bicycles (and motorcycles) next week, and their sales starts at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 26, 2006.

They still had some nice bikes left when they closed their doors a couple of week ago, (some seem to have disappeared when they moved them to the other building, next door to the motorbikes) and perhaps there may be some left...mostly Norco, Gary Fisher, and others

Cheers

My dad worked there for a few years, as a motorcycle mechanic, when he first came to Toronto. I remember visiting the shop when I was really little. My brother's and I got our first new bikes there when we were kids. I'll have to let my dad know that it's closing.

75 years of service and now going out of buisiness:(.

Thanks jm01...I knew about the closing sale but wasn't sure if the bike shop was going to be part of it.

Its Tuesday!

Went by their bike location today and it looks like the better bikes got lost in transit when they moved from the other store...they had Norco and Gary Fisher XC and FR bikes as well as one Norco DH when they closed their doors...they seem to have disappeared.

They do have some Balfa, Banshee, and GF frames though...may check it out later

cheers

They're back...they moved them to the bike side...they'll be moving the frames over there shortly as well

One thing that ticked me off is that they're advertising 30% of the tag price...I know what some of these bikes go for and even at 30% off, you can still do better at other stores. However, some of the deals are not bad, I was looking at a Fuji 2.0 flat hybrid for Mrs. M., the U.S. MSRP is $949.00, McBrides has it $1149.00, so it nets in at $804.00 cad

good deals on the accessories...i picked up some Kenda Karmalites (454gr) for 23.99, I'll be back today for a better bike lock and helmet for my kid...they also have a built Balfa HT for under $1000 (not a great build though)

They are also looking for a Fox 36 fork that they think is in the other building...they may have that tonight as well.

Anyway, just a long way of saying that they have a pretty good selection of GT, Fuji, Rocky Mountain, and Norco...mostly hybrids and hardtails, but there a few full sussers.

Nice prices on the used motorcycles as well...they have a 650cc with 1500km on it for less that I paid for my XC bike
