Merlinextraligh started a thead on how winning 3 Worlds is perhaps more noteworthy than winning a Tour several times. The Cycling Hall of Fame (cyclinghalloffame.com) has several combination listings such as multiple jerseys in a single tour and lifetime, winning all of the 5 monuments or the triple crown (Tour, Giro and Worlds in the same year).
What are some of the notable combinations or strings that people here think are noteworthy. I do mean noteworthy, not always the sign of the best of the best. It can be because they are strange. E.g. rather unusual that someone would win both of those races. Or it can be something more natural like winning Paris-Roubaix and The Worlds in the same year (done only 3 times).
Only rules is somewhat unique.
I have sevaral in mind but I'll give just this one.
Fiorenzo Magni won the Tour of Flanders 3 times in a row. Impressive in any race, let alone one of the 5 Monuments. BUT looking deeper it becomes even more impressive. At the time he did this the TOF had only been won once by a non Belgian (Magni is Italian). To this day nop one has won it more than 3 times. Also to this day it has never gone more than 3 years between wins by Belgians.
