Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - 40 at 40

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
In honor of my 40th birthday, I went out and rode my age...
Distance: 40.26
Time: 2:43:04
Average MPH: 14.7
Not shocking until you consider I am an "uber" at 300+ lbs.

Good job!
I did something similar when I turned 29 (but I did a 29+1 like birthday candles).
Happy Happy!

What a studmuffin!
How much weight have you lost so far? And what do you ride?

I've lost 25 lbs since March with no change to my horrible diet. I've also redistributed fat weight from my stomach to lean mass on my leg muscles.
I ride a Trek 7200 Hybrid/City Bike 20 miles a day.

Was your birthday the 23rd when you posted this?
My birthday was the 23rd too. I ride on Sunday...and rode my age for my birthday too. I turned 36, and ended up riding 38. I'm about 320 lbs right now.

No. It was the 24th. But I knew I would be hungover and dehydrated on the 24th, so I went out Saturday morning. http://imagehost.biz/ims/pictes/209027.gif
Congrats on your ride as well!

Now let's all ride our weight on our birthdays!
That all depends, it's a lot easier to do in metric, I weigh 95kg, so 95km should be doable, by mid June, if I can get some good training in during late April and May. Considering that my Birthday is a Monday, can I do the ride on the Sunday instead?
Now 95kg is roughly 210lbs, so a 210 mile ride, that's a heck of a lot harder.:D

I'm not kidding, I plan on a 205 mile 1 day in May and the next goal after that is N border to South Border of Indiana in less than 24 hrs, 298 miles. I'm not the least ambitious, eh?:D

Good idea. Maybe as you ride, you'll lose weight, and you can finish earlier than you thought.

Ride my weight? 225 !!!
Again I quote Mrs Rudner:
"I don't even wan't to do something that FEELS GOOD for eight hours." ;)
How about ride your weight minus three times your age?
That would be 102 for me. That might be in the ball park.

Of course you realize that us metric folks have it a lot easier, 95km is a lot easier then 215 miles.:D

Can we do it in kilograms? Or even stone?
I'd need 3 weeks to ride my weight...

I hope we all can celebrate our birthdays like the incredible Bill Cotton of Bicycle Club of Philadelphia:

According to this article, Bill is a former Clyde:
