I am faced with replacing my wallet that is falling apart. The salespeople have shown me money clips, which seem to be more compact -- but not sure I can do without a pocket to put all my receipts. Also not sure how easy it is to clip and unclip cash.
Please take the poll, as well as respond with any comments. Thanks.

Money clip...hmm, I carried one with a 10 spot and several 1's as throwdown bait if I was ever robbed when I drove a truck. It was a cheap flashy fake gold money clip with a fake diamond embedded. It probably kept me alive, actually, as I was robbed at Hunt Point Market in NYC at gunpoint. I tossed the money clip and as his attention followed the money clip, I ran! Consequently, I carry a wallet, a cheap $$ clip with bait bills and money in another pocket as well.
I actually have a money clip with a wallet. On one side is a metal strip to put my money (and receipts) in, on the other side credit cards and ID.
Best part is that it stops me from carrying around too many receipts! Unless there's no money in it...
Tom - great idea! Too bad you had to use it though...

Usually a wallet, when it's out of my pocket I don't like people seeing how much cash I carry, but since I pay with a credit card where ever I can, it usually isn't an issue, nor do I ever have more than 100 cash on me. If I'm held up at gun or knife point, 100 aint nothin to me.
I have a wallet now, but much prefer a money clip. Like Tom, I've used one as "quick, look over there" bait, distracting a guy who robbed me in Orlando.

Hey, I lost 15 bucks and a cheap money clip! Better than the wallet and the cash in my other pockets! Better than dying as well, because it split his attention and let me get to where I was safe!:D
Frankly, if I had had a means to defend myself other than my brain, I wouldn't have been able to use it anyway!

I have an Eagle Creek wallet. Money clip? What is this thing "money"?

I carry a small(falling apart) wallet in my front pocket. It came with a clip, but I took it off. Just for DL, work ID, cards and stuff, tho. Keep cash loose in my pocket...when I carry any. Receipts go in my other front pocket or inside jacket pocket until they're logged in my spreadsheet. Then they're discarded, unless I need them for proof of purchase or warranty purposes.
Never been robbed, but I dig Tom's idea.:) I don't carry much, but I usually keep everything in the same place. Small knife and cell phone go in my left front pants/shorts pocket. Wallet and cash go in my right front pocket. Keys hang from my belt loop by a clip. Cell phone goes in my inside jacket pocket and my keys go in the right outside pocket...when I'm wearing one.

I use a card holder w/ built in money clip. Fossil and Kenneth Cole both make excellent models.
The kinds with the hinged metal clip suck.
I just carry the thing in my right side pocket. Easy access, and I don't have to pull my wallet out of a back pocket before riding my bike. Keys go in the left side pocket, and cell phone goes in the extremely large "watch pocket" my Levi's has.
Both
I carry my wallet with my ID, credit cards, etc. and some cash. But I carry the Benjamins in a money clip. It looks impressive when you whip it out after a dinner-date and unroll the hundreds. :D Gotta roll with the <bling>. :p
I like the flexibility of a wallet for daily use (did I just say that?). I also use a money clip, but mostly when I'm out for the evening and don't want to carry around a bulky wallet.

Well, I spent several hours at the mall checking out different wallet vendors. Bags n Baggage, department stores...then, just for the f of it, I checked out ridiculous stores like Louis Vuitton -- their crappy wallets cost over $500! Those stores really play on psychological flaws in certain people...but I digress.
I wanted to find a wallet other than the traditional black or brown color. 1) to be different, and 2) so it would stand out more (I actually lost my wallet recently and someone mailed it to me). I want to be able to see it easier if it falls under the car seat and so forth. I had an image in my head of one of those colorful leather watch straps on some expensive fashion watches. I envisioned a mustard yellow that looked great on a stainless steel watch I had seen online (my other hobby is watches).
After being jaded by $500 wallets, I finally found this gem at Neiman Marcus, which I think satisfies my desire for quality/fashion, as well as visibility:

I haven't seen another like it -- I can't even find this model online. Not yellow, but it's the same hue/shade I envisioned. This was the last of about 10 stores I browsed.
Incidentally, I returned a wallet/clip from the Coach store -- that has to be the most obnoxious and poorly run store...worse than a bad day at WalMart.

I use a simple money clip to hold my ID and check/credit cards, and carry cash separately in the same pocket, i.e. not in the clip. Works for me, has been for years. Receipts get emptied and put in their place on my office desk instead of carried around all the time....

Wallet man;).
I use a money clip of sorts . . .

It allows me to hold license and a few credit cards plus the cash. Not pretty, but I got sick of having to buy new clips when they broke after being bent too much.

I use a cloth coinpurse. It holds my cards and money, and isn't a big lump in my jersey. I don't need some huge manpurse.

Come on Towlie you have to go with a wallet. It holds rolling papers much better than a money clip :D

I have carried a wallet for years.
When I used live near London I had another fake wallet with a couple of bills and fake credit cards from the mail in offers, never had to lose the wallet, though I knew several people who where really glad of the fake wallets.

Sorry, I just find an unarmed and helpless socioty amusing. Especially when they choose to have it that way.

I'm not sure how to answer this -- I prefer the "front pocket wallet", which is a cross between a wallet and a money clip. It forces me to keep my life simple in that it doesn't fit much stuff, and I don't have a chunk of leather under my butt. I heartily recommend them.

Nice wallet, Towlie! I need a new wallet, and since I keep losing (and finding) mine, it's pretty beat up :o

There no choice for neither. I just carry my ID and debit card. If on a rare occasion I have cash, i just fold it and put it in my pocket.

Ugh. I just realized this is burnt orange. NOT my intention to carry around the colors of my alma mata. I am not a football fan and I am completely unmoved by things like college football, UT regalia, and the like. I just liked it cause it's soft deerskin, highly visible, and unique. Then a lady says to me today, hey, it's the UT colors....Ugh.
