how are your knees with the saddle that far forward? Does it benefit riding fixed at all?

That's for work? That is teh hawtness! But you didn't follow the rules of ss/fg pic posting and photograph it in front of a grafitti covered wall and show an alternate shot of the chainline. :)

no, thats just the way its setup at the moment, I wanted to start there since the frame already has you way back over the rear wheel anyway, so far only a ride around the block to make sure everything was tight.........spacers for the stem are coming off pronto, and the saddle needs raised a bit and moved back a bit, other than that I dont know yet, usually takes months for me to get a bike dialed in

so far it feels like a razor compared to my steel bikes running 27 1 1/8" slicks, thing is light as a feather too, I can fling it all over the road, feels a tad undergeared too, might have to put a 52/15 or 52/16 on it, we'll see

well I figured since it appears im gonna be doing this for like forever, I might as well build a bike suited to the job instead of converting one like I usually do, I dont do grafitti wall shots though-----those neighborhoods round here I pass thru but do not stop in, its bad enough here with dudes getting shot(had one next door last week)

+1 Man, I so want to try riding that thing. It's beautiful. I'd almost sell the mtb just to get one of those.

So Siu, when are you getting one?

pedex

http://www.chucksbikes.com

it was $274.xx shipped, and they sent me the wrong frame, I ordered the older model, they sent me the newer one which is $50 more so I didnt complain, although I did have to get a new headset for it and the fork isnt drilled for a brake and it lacks a rear brake bridge too

all brand new parts, built like that one, its about $530 total

Maybe if we get them together, we can get a discount! :p

Gotta love chucksbikes. They have some insane deals once in a while. I picked up a Miche Supertype seatpost for $40 last month. The usually go for $70-$80 elsewhere.

dont worry, the mtb's wont get jealous, I have one of those too, its sits in the corner collecting dust until we have a big snowstorm or icestorm, then I put big ugly studded tires on it and ride it

Y'know, you can get a SS MTB w/ a flip-flop free/fixed hub and ride fixed on the streets and ss on the trails...But nah, that track bike is sex!

Pedex - no doubt that's a very efficient and functional bike with minimalist lines, but this is real beauty:

Some of the lugwork on those old bikes is like jewelry. Lots of tender loving care goes into making one those thats for certain. Ive never really had the lust to own one though.

Nice ride. Looks pretty slick. If they had a larger version of that frame I would have gotten one. What are the track ends made out of?

Good gravy, do you have tree trunks for legs or something?

Thanks for posting the pics.

pedex

the track ends are steel inserts bolted to the aluminum frame

and no, dont have trunks, but it doesnt take much effort to move a lightweight track bike down the road

fish scale is showing 17.2 lbs for new bike vs 25.1 lbs for the bike I normally ride for work which has 49/16 gearset and 35mm tires

new bike has:
sugino cranks from parts drawer
sun M13 rims laced to a formula track hub rear and shimano hub up front, both are cross 3 with 14ga spokes
kalloy seatpost
titec stem
ahead integrated headset
selle san marco saddle
surly track kog and lockring
salsa 50T chainring
unknown bullhorns I traded some wheel building work for
wellgo clipless pedals
shimano UN-53 110mm BB
KMC410 chain
unknown generic carbon fork w/ alum steerer tube

not much to it really, built mostly from junk, its just light junk and not much of it :)

Sexy bike Pedex!

I'm soooo close to getting a Fixie.....still debating Pista/Langster/other.

Langster is nice in that it has eyelets for a rack....but I am starting to hate the LBS that sells it.

Pista....I'm not sure how long that LBS will even be around...they just lost their nice storefront and are wedged into this tiny cubbyhole of a shop.

Other....I need to figure out my options on that one...

Source parts from ebay and build up your own. A fixed gear is dead simple to build with a minimal amount of tools and it's fun.

That's why I love fixed gear. You can build it up with junk and still have a damn fine ride. That said, I just ordered a Nitto stem and pursuit bar which will, by far, be the nicest parts on my build.
