Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. OK. So Koffee, is gone and we all agree that she was trigger happy when it came to foo topics. Actually I think at least one other mod was as well. We all remember the infamous, no foo in foo debate. But I declare that there has to be some form of moderation in this forum.

Sometimes it gets so sensless that is like reading the pharmacutical emails in my email junk box. We all acknowledge that this is an informal place to hang in the forums. But I swear, threads like these are getting extremely old. http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=231180

Can't there be at some regulation in this forum?

Why'd she leave? All I remember about koffee is that she said she would mace any guy that rode up behind her, even if just saying "hi" when passing.

Much respect danno. Especially after seeing all of the hot chicks in your pics. (as a MWC male I thank you for that ;) ) However, I think posts like this are the equivilant of spam. There is nothing even intelligible from the post of the topic.

That should be a violation. It is the bare minimum of standards. The fact is that nobody wants to open up an inbox full of junk, and nobody wants to read a forum full of junk. So what should the standard be? I dunno. Maybe we will go back to the English language as a start?

Portis,
Not sure how much you've been here at foo lately but there are at least 3
mods that are active here.
There are plenty of posts that get deleted that maybe you haven't seen
(like all the spam we spend hours cleaning up).
There is already a guideline about language, i.e. no aolese of Haxxor (or what
ever the hell it's called).

I don't mind threads like that one at all. Whimsy is pretty harmless and can be charming in the right mood. I'll read that sort of thread with pleasure rather than the needlessly vituperative flame-fests I've wandered into lately.

Portis, along the lines of Marty's reply... There is moderation here, It's just that we as Mod's can't be everywhere at every moment. This is whey we rely so heavily on member assistance to bring these type of posts to our attention. Thank you for your efforts.

Personally speaking, except for a couple of hours early in the morning yesterday, I wasn't on BF at all. I took the opprotunity to spend some quality time with my partner. Gotta admit, she was much more enjoyable than you folks, and I don't mean that nasty ;)

I appreciate your concerns and the fact that you alerted us to this thread.

Thank you,
Stacey

That makes sense, but some people don't have any of that....

As for the thread mentioned...seemed like a prime example of "foo" to me. An extreme example perhaps, but still foo in my opinion. That being said, this is Joe's place and the moderators act with his authority. I got no beef with that.:)

I've never had any problem with the mods -- though I would have loved to see the original Sig Test thread in all its glory -- and I don't even object to the "salk" thread being shut down. I do question, however, if it was really "beyond acceptable". That seems like pretty harsh language for something that was just sorta dumb :)

This forum is modded well enough.

Only things I have a beef with is mass thread-bumping, idiots that spew forth half-facts as truth despite knowing otherwise, and people that have to attack other members whenever given the chance. There was in incident a few months back that was scrolling other threads off the first page, just because someone thought it was funny. Really, it was annoying, and I caught myself cussing him out on a few of those threads over it (and it's really hard for me to cuss anyone out without breaking new limits in "WTF?", so I had to keep it tame).

Other than that, all should be fair game. How about a thread in Elvish? :p

Elvish is dead. There is, however, a huge memorial to him at Graceland. :)

And where does it end? Just because it doesn't fit into your idea of what a thread should be? The thread you referenced wasn't even vugar. It was a little dumb in my opinion, but the original poster may have thought it was a riot. <shrug>. I see a lot worse on billboards along side the road.

No thanks. If you are unhappy with the level of moderation here, then perhaps you can start your own board, where you can be king and wear out your delete key.

But please do not attempt to stuff your idea of morality down my throat. I will throw it up all over your nice hair shirt.

I think you missed the junk mail analogy. If my email inbox is full of junk, than of course I don't have to open them. But my email inbox is still full of junk. ;)
