Say on a tiagra 9 speed with a triple up front. Should you be able to get in every gear without rubbing or the chain skipping a little? I dont mean if it is smart to use some of these combos but on a properly adjusted bike will the big/big and small/small combos cause any problem?
Just curious. Thanks
Never been able to achieve it myself.

No chain rub on a triple? The Holy Grail of adjustments. They can't make it happen with a Dura-Ace double...

+1 Even worse on a smaller frame.

With the chain on the middle ring you should be able to use all 9 in the back by selecting one or the other middle clickstop positions.

You might be able to use all of the gears with some trimming. There isn't much practical use, as the big-big and small-small rations are probably replicated by other gear combinations.
Apparently, Campy shifters allow more fine-grained adjustment of the FD, so this is possible.
To use all the gears silently, you need a Campagnolo group.

I can get big-big, small-small on my 105 using a triple shifter on a double crank.
