General Cycling Discussion - To sell or not to sell

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am new to commuting and really really love it - I want to sell my car and just wondered if anyone out there has sold their car and do they commute everywhere, how long is the longest ride through a city etc.
Any words o' wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
And anyone who has bad winters too....
;)
It all depends on where you live and what you like to do. Plenty of urbanites have neither car nor bicycle, whereas many people in less-dense area have access to both. Because of my bicycle and public transportation, our three-driver family does not need a third car, and could even queeze by with one. However, I am currently not prepared to resume the car-free lifestyle of my college student years.

Well let's just say I am single and in my mid 20's so I don't think I have any stipulations that way. No kids or a husband.

Maybe I really just want to know what the hardest thing could be for not owning a car??
Single people do have it easier going car free. Kids cannot be put in a bike trailer in the middle of January and taken to the dr. However when you are single, except for vacations (like to another state) you can do without a car entirely. I have a trailer for shopping. with what i save on gas and stuff i bought a washing machine and dryer so trips to the Laundromat are no longer necessary. In a town of 60,000, I can be anywhere inside 30 minutes, so all I have to do is plan ahead. Sell the car and buy a trailer panniers and a bike for running to the store!

Hardest thing,well,cold,rain,snow,heat,wind,smell,hills,you know that stuff.
the worst would depend on what kind of person you are, what bothers you the most.
