Regardless of whether Floyd doped, like so many pro level riders do I am sure, how about the fact that he won the tour with a dying hip bone giving him an effective leg length difference? He spent a year working a "groove" into the bone. He basically has ridden his hip into the ground which is low density califlour by now. It's nothing short of amazing. The man can't even run let alone walk without a limp and has to use a handrail to go up the stairs because he is in pain 24-7. Any normal person would crumble and have gone for hip replacement surgery a year ago but Floyd's unimaginable determination pushed him to do something I can't even comprehend. As someone who just underwent closed femoral shortening because my Leg length discrepancy was causing me knee and hip pain I am nothing short of flabbergasted to read about how advanced his condition is. Regarless of the doping results my hat is off to him. Amazing.

I agree.

I think it's impossible to fairly judge these guys for doping from the outside. I think it's very likely the reality is you either dope or you don't race at that level, period.

I disagree, I can't condone doping regardless of the circumstances. I run competitively and work my ass off to be the fastest as I can be. I also realize that in the blink of an eye an injury could throw all of that hard work out the window so it gives me some appreciation for what Landis has done. He's gone well above and beyond just working his ass off to get where he has. But on the other hand, cheating is cheating and it can't be tolerated. If it's proven he's cheated I don't care about his accomplishments because his character will be rock bottom. If you can't follow basic rules then you don't deserve to be on the top.

Btw, I'm a big Landis fan and I really do think he's innocent but I can't tolerate cheating. When I compete I need a level playing field and the clean bikers need the same. Zero tolerance. Period.
