Northern California - Just moved from Dallas... where to find rides?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I just moved back home after living in Dallas for the last 5 years. I took up biking in Feb and love it. Although the hills weren't as plentiful in the Dallas area as they are here. I live in Daly City and was wondering if there was a Bay Area website for rallies, rides, etc. I know the season is just about over but come next year I'd like to be able to find these rides so I can participate. Or if there is a site that shows local routes people take in my area. There was a group in Dallas that mapped out their usual routes and it made it easy to find routes close by that I can do myself or with a friend. Anything like that here? I've searched but found little so far.

Thanks for your help in advance!
Gary

The season is year round here in the bay area.. Check out Altovelo.org, they are close to you. Also Chainreaction has several routes listed on there site at Chainreaction.com. You can also PM me and I can give you some more ideas.

Thanks for the great sites! I finally got my bike from Dallas and took a ride around my mom's... one, it's been a month since I last rode (hotter n' hell 100, hh100.org) and two, it's a lot flatter out in Texas. So not only am I out of shape to ride, I'm REALLY out of shape to ride these hills! Ugh!!

Thanks again! Hopefully I'll meet some of you one day soon! Now I need to get some cold climate clothing, or at least some knee warmers! :)

The Krebs maps, the North SF Bay/Wine Country when heading north, and the South SF Bay/Monterey Bay when heading south, would also be useful. You probably could find them at a bike shop. If not, there's http://krebscycleproducts.com/.
