Commuting - Cateye TL-LD1000 vs LD1000BR

Hi,
I was thinking on getting a Cateye TL-LD1000 tail light in ebay as it was not available in Spain. A few hours ago I came back from the biggest bike show here and the importer displayed a LD1000BR tail light. Are the TL-LD1000 and the LD1000BR exactly the same as it seems by its appearing?

I'll speculate: the BR model is somehow approved by the British transportation authorities. But that is just a guess.

RegardsThe LD1000 is good, especially because of its visibility from the side, but it can be difficult to remove from its attachment mount. Some people accidentally break the mounting clip.

I like the Planet Bike "SuperFlash" too, and it is easier to remove from its mount, so you can take it with you if you lock your commuting bike. It's smaller and lighter than the Cateye LD1000, but it's daytime-visible too.

I never thought to attach the LD1000 to my bike but to my messenger bag as it is placed higher and more visible to the ones behind in a car. I will take it with me then. How can I attach it to my bag specifical holder?

Regards.Cateye includes a holder to clip the LD1000 to a bag. It is a very focused light, so if it is clipped to a bag, it probably will not be very bright to the motorists because it will be aimed upwards. You might want to save some money and buy a Planet Bike "Blinky 5". The whole lens lights up from the LEDs and I think it might be more visible when it's on a bag than the LD1000 because of that reason. It is also quite bright.

(I prefer batteries in pairs because I like to use rechargeable batteries and my charger works in pairs. I also prefer the autonomy of AAs.)

3. Do you need to remove the taillight and remove screws to access the batteries?
(I'd prefer not.)

1. Yes, in fact it will fit the old Vistalight clothing clips too.

3. Nope you can leave it on the bike, they come out the side.

Most of this stuff is on the Cateye website, you can even buy brackets to fit different size seatposts and stays on the site.

I don't recommend attaching the LD1000 to your bag. The LEDs in this light are very bright, but very directional also. It should be mounted hard to something to guarantee that it is pointing in the right direction. As a heavy light, it will probably end up pointing down if it is on your bag. It does come with a clip that would go on a belt or strap etc. if you do decide to put it on your bag.

My LBS (Kansas City area) ordered a pair of the TL-LD1000s for me earlier this year... around May or June, IIRC. The clip was included with both of the beasties. :)
