Is that a wrench or is it permanantly attached to the nut?

As for this wrench, hub nut is welded.
Therefore, it always adheres to bike.

Nifty, it could also serve as a foot rest for coasting.

I love the way steel & chrome polish up for the camera

I actually like the frankenstein look but it would probably get stolen to quickly to be practical.

I will inform you in advance, I cannot sell overseas these NJS Keirin frames.

"Please show me your idea"

Okay! I'd do exactly what you've done, except have the wrench as specialized to attach to the frame using the water bottle nuts that so very often go unused on track bikes.

Major Con, many many track bikes built without water bottle bosses

upside - a competent end user can install bosses

Hey Sam
Ever seen the brake-bridge mod on a track bike for a waterbottle mount? I can't seem to find it...

maybe in japan that works.. but unfortunately thats like asking someone to steal your wheels in america

i was thinking in a similar fashion, sloppy. it is a nice idea, but not very functional here.

SamHouston

carefully? Tap them in(out), BIke shops charge $12-$20 bucks to do it, but I don't know if they'd do it to a beer can bike, steel yes, for carbon they've got specialized riv-nuts.

My definition of competent is varied though, I'd pay someone to do it on a nice steel frame, but I'd do it myself on a steel beater.

No I haven't sounds like a winner, though monster thighs might rub it. Hell monster thighs rub frames sometimes, nothing to be done for it.

Tomity-san, your creativity (and bike horde!) is always welcome. Unfortunately here in the US, people really enjoy stealing nice bike stuff, so putting a wrench onto a hub nut almost invites theivery. If not of the wheels (if not secured), then the wrench itself. It is a sad commentary to make, but it is also true.

Definitely innovative, though!

Sliced cog is used for the lock ring of the bottom bracket.

This bike sold by 30300JPY in Japan Yahoo auction.
My wife had gotten on this bike.

I pass it to the highest bidder today.
The same goods as chainring(Shimano D/A NJS gold models)of this bike were made for a successful bid with 13000JPY.

cute. there was a bike on fgg once with a campy peanut butter wrench drilled and mounted with allen bolts to bottle cage mounts on the downtube. nice trick, but as was pointed out, you needed one tool to access another, so kinda redundant (where and how were you gonna mount the allen wrench?). nevertheless looked slick.

some small polished ss wingnuts would do the trick. i've often thought it would look slick on a street fixie.

I once had a pair of those Scott bars. Noodly as ******** hell. As in so much it was scary.

Tomity, your "stock yard" is the coolest thing I've seen in a while. Excellent.

I'd like to see that brake bridge water bottle mount if anyone can dig it up...

So did I, so did I. Then I thought that I have an unused pair of bottle mounts on my frame. Then I thought that I like my wheel, so I'm not going to give thieves a helping hand...

if you drilled the wrench and slotted it, left the allen bolts loosened to the thickness of the wrench, popped the wrench over the bolt heads and slid it along the slot you added, you'd not need any additional tools.

But you would have to loctite the bolts at the right thickness or else they'd most likely shake themselves loose. I'd also suggest putting a neoprene sleeve over the threads on the allen and cut the slot in a tear drop shape to make sure the tool's in there tightly and requires a lil' force to actuall get it off.

OK, here's my bit of cleverness. I put a zip tie between the seat rails just behind the seatpost on all my bikes. It's unobtrusive, and gives me a perfect place to attach my clippy tail light. I know it's not quie as clever as Tomity's hacks, but it's a very simple effective solution to the problem.

you should know better than to take me seriously

i think it would be funny to bolt on a wrench that was too big for any of the bolts on your bike.
