Southern California - to the idiot that almost hit me on the ballona creek path...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

if you're gonna sprint up behind me and pass at a busy intersection you need to either say something or slow down. it was obvious we were slowing to exit and others were entering the path. all you gotta do is say SOMETHING, ANYTHING, to announce your presence, hell at least just coast so we have a chance to hear your freewheel. Don't act surprised and start yelling after you pass and almost hit four different people. i'm not part of your imaginary paceline.
The one smart decision you did make today was to keep riding.
I doubt whoever this is---is on the forums. This is why I dont ride near any paths, stuff like this seems to happen more times than not

When/where? I was there this morning at 7:30 ish.
If it's a fat guy, it could be me, but I don't remember passing anyone.

it was around 10:30 at the entrance/exit to the path just west of centinela.
other than that, it was a beautiful day for a ride.

my freewheel is really quiet. I can't even hear mine.
I like it that way, I hate loud freewheels

Me too, especially Zipps....they're loud and clancky. The only 'noisey' hub which I really like are the King hubs. I love their sweet sounding hubs....sounds like a swarm of bees..:D

I always thought I would go down on the bike path from one of those idiots who hear your call and step right in front, or wave their arms in conversation and clothesline you (happened, but I didn't go down), but no I go down because the wheel broke. My students asked me what I crashed my bike into and I tell them "the ground" :o

haha
Actually the only fall I ever had(other than random clipless learning phases) was near a bike path(I rode ON THE STREET) where a crazy girl in rollerblades at night rode in the opposite direction...
It's also pretty nice to hear a55wipes tell me to get on the bike path when I'm riding down Victory past Winnetka. So nice of them to remind me that the bike path is just 10 feet away :D

Sounds like a new rider perhaps or just a jerk who does not care about his safety or anyone elses.
