General Cycling Discussion - Posting pictures.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Anyone out there have a problem posting pictures? I told Joe of my problem.. Joe said you can't post more than one picture at a time.. Maybe Joe has never had a problem with a particular software complaints, as maybe I do.? I have Adobe Photo Deluxe.
I can cut and paste under the Edit function for everything but pictures. When I select copy with the pictures stored in my hard drive and then select 'copy' under the edit funtion at the Bike Forums site, the copy, paste functions are not outlined and therefore not available.
I had put my pictures from the recent Death Valley 100 on CD. They are stored under Adobe Deluxe on my hard drive...
Wanted to share what the Death Valley 100 looked like for those of you that had been thinking about the ride.Sorry..
Please share any problems you might have had and how you post pictures.. My pictures are stored and indicate under JPeg files.
I have downloaded the Kodak CD program. It says most web browsers support their CD program. Could Kodak be preventing me from cutting and pasting to other web sites ? Their instructions say most web browers will accept their program ! Would like to show you all what Death Valley looks like.
At loggerheads,no can do..thanks.

Can you attach the image to a post? If not, what type of error do you receive?

Yeah, you have to use the browse button--pasting a picture into the text box will do nothing.

I have found that when I have attached pictures, they are much darker when they come on the thread than when I view them before posting. If this happens with your pictures, before you attach them go into your editing software and tweak the gamma and brightness. This is also effective if you find a photo you have scanned appears too dark. Some times I have found reducing the brightness then increasing gamma does it right. There are lots of adjustments that can be made - try all of them to find out what works for you.

Inkwolf..Never noticed the bytes limitation and need to use the Browse; Attach file. Thanks all...This should work. I had known sending pictures was a slow process.
Need to read the small print..
What format does adobe store your pics as? Many softwares store your photo projects in formats other than the .jpg or .gif required to post here. Files stored as .bmp are too huge to even consider, and many other formats (.psd I belive was one of them...) are likewise gigantic. You may need to convert your pics to a .jpg/.jpeg format first. Also, please size them correctly, so we don't have to scan all over the page to tell what it is we are looking at....

If you combine two or more pics into one pic before posting, you can.
Or, post links to a website. I.e.,

D'Alex.. Adobe uses jpeg so I should not have a problem..Originally suspected my software, hence the question that I asked seemed important.

Have we figured it out? One last thing to remember, if you click on "Preview Reply" with an attachment, you will loose the attachment. You just need to hit "Submit Reply".
As for image size, the smaller the better, If possible, keep attachments under 800 x 600, and 60k in size.

I upload pictures to Photobucket (http://photobucket.com/), and then use the "Insert Image" http://www.bikeforums.net/images/editor/insertimage.gif button in the editor here.
