Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

How will we get the minimum order of 10?
 Whatta you tryin' to say?:o
I think the 13 year old kid kinda liked me!:D
NO NO NO! wear your yellow jersey with your polka dot vest over it! http://www.smileycons.com/img/emotions/149.gif
That is what I am going for... the 1000 Mile Club jersey under the Grand Slam vest, and I hope to have it all in time for the Pie Ride!
We could include a selection of organized rides and BF Specific rides in the list of eligible rides. Something like Breathless, Mulholland, Heartbreak, Baldy, Pie, Everest and pick 4... Also, the BF rides would need to be scheduled at least a couple times per year, but then again.... If anyone was running out of time and still needed to complete Baldy before the end of the year, create a thread, get a couple others to join you and that is all the validation that I would need. Voltman has it correct in that no one would want to wear the jersey that did not officially earn it. We are too small of a group for lies to work, we are also mean and any poseurs would be forced to complete the rides in front of the group (and they would have to beat OC or Pico to the top of the climb!)
Why? We have no doubt about who finished the initial Pie ride. Logistics and the honor system work very differently in a very small group.
Yeah, it sure wasn't me...I was the first to climb into the SAG wagon at 80 miles.
I seriously considered joining you. Riding for 60 miles with cramps was painful.
I'm still amazed I managed to clip in each time without cramping up badly enough to fall over. I seriously thought that would happen every time I had to clip in after mile 75.

If we didn't have those SAG wagons with us I would have happily pulled over, layed down and died when I pulled over, I had nothting left.
I wore my Bacchetta Climbers jersey for the GTL. One of the Team Bacchetta guys had them made up as a joke for Race Across Oregon. They were riding recumbents in a climbing race with 53000 feet of climbing in 535 miles, so they thought it'd be cool to show up with a climbers Jersey.
Here are the results:

And the Jersey looks like the one in these pictures.

It's a nice Jersey, I like it, and I'm a Clydesdale, jshen blew by me on the Latigo, of course I made that up on pch. :) The whole time climbing Latigo, I was thinking about the 5 gallon waterbottles for the cooler at work and that I was uneccesarily carrying one of those up the climb. For poway I'll have the powertap so I can gauge my effort. Should be interesting, nice jerseys though.

I was pushing the bike up hills on the San Diego 200k in January. I'd never had such bad cramps, and unfortunately I can't rest by standing and letting weight move the bike forward. Ride time for that was 12 hours, huge difference from there to GTL. Legs were hurting after Latigo, but I could still move, after about an hour they were recovered.

and besides..... i don't want one.... so there! well... unless it has an energizer bunny on it! but i don't "rate" a BF climbing jersey... cuz i'm not fast.... just focused! (and stubborn.... and determined...... and.... )
caligurl, you should try starting from the back of the group for a change. Last Sunday, I felt like a really fast climber as I passed quite a few people on Latigo, with only one person (without a wristband, and thus probably not on a century pace) passing me. You would feel fast, too, if you waited for slower people to start and then chased after them.

I never hear that there was a speed portion to the test, I figured that it was like the Planet Ultra events in that everyone finishing was a winner.

Mark,
If you like the Race Across Oregon with all the climbing and mileage, you'll love the race Planet Ultra is planning in Southern Utah, it will start in St. George and loop through Red Rock country and return back to St. George. Suppose to be over 500 miles with 50,000 + feet of climbing. They are already talking to the organizers of the Race Across Oregon about making it a series.

Caligurl,
When we started talking about jersey's it was about who earned them, any climbing ride or distance ride, that requires you to complete the ride, you have earned the jersey and the right to wear it. That's what makes the jersey's so special. Not how fast you climbed or rode it.

plus i'm not in a race..... i'm a pleasure rider....
I like starting early, too. But being the fastest of the group you encounter is a nice feeling every once in a while. If you had started with me on Sunday, you and I would have blown by everyone else on Latigo, and you would have felt as if you were transformed into Terry Morse. Then you wouldn't think you're so slow.

In case it's a bad thing, I'll go hide in a corner now.

It means you're now cleared to buy her something Coachy.

Okay, before I go into hiding, let me clear up one thing for voltman.
Getting a coach bag is the job of a boyfriend or husband, not the job of a father.

I'm a poser lets go ride, Ill wear my yellow jersey or my pokadot one from the KOM challange.:D
Congratulations on getting the jersey.
Okay, I knew people would overanalyze my post. My wife has a pink jersey too and it looks very pretty.
If I were to wear say a polka dot Rabobank jersey or a yellow Disco jersey I'm marking myself as a target to be passed. I know this because I could find at least 5 threads (of which none are mine) posted today in the Road Cycling section about someone passing up a 'poseur' dressed in some type of kit. I also hear the monday cycling conversations at work about the same thing. It's cycling culture. If you are passed easily they'll consider you a poseur. Either you don't care about that or presenting a challenge to yourself.
Now if I say, went to a group ride with a yellow Disco jersey and got dropped, I'm sure there would be a percentage of the riders chuckling afterwards. If I got dropped wearing an red outfit people would probably empathize. I'm not saying it's right, I wouldn't even call the person a posuer, but there would be a percentage that would.
